Melody's POV
Once the movie was over everything was in utter silence, looking at Linda I decided that I should ask her once again.
"Linda?" I said about to say something else she interrupted me-
"Look I know what you are going to ask, I am not sure I am ready to tell you." She sighed.\
"Well I understand I mean it is Trent but why is it so bad? You trust me right?" I furrowed my eyebrows.
"Yes, but it's complicated and a long story." She stated.
"Well I have all the time in the world, spill." I said grabbing a cushion and sitting cross-legged on the couch.
"I know Trent along with Jed... but it is not for the right reasons." She looked down sadly.
"How?" I pressed, I know I am pressuring her but if I knew maybe we could keep her safe as well.
"Roderick." She said then rushed out, "I am hungry I will be right back."
Agreeing on giving her space I let my thoughts wander until I finally realised who she was talking about. My eyes widened, how does she know Roderick?
"Linda!" I called she came back with a snack bar with tears streaming down her face.
I sat up from the couch and ran over to give her a hug whispering, "What happened?"
"Pam introduced me to him, we started talking I had no idea he was some sort of psychotic sociopath" She explained.
"You dated him?" I said in a shocked tone.
"I didn't just date him, I helped him with everything he needed, I was like his little slave." She said taking a deep breath.
"That was until he told me to kill someone." I indicated for her to go further, "Of course I said no, he started to yell at me. I broke up with him and ran a couple of months ago I got a note from him telling me to watch out and then I met you- now this."
"Wait! Who did he tell you to kill?" I said as we dropped down on the couch.
"U-Uh I can't tell you." She said running a hand through her hair.
"Linda... you have to tell me, are they already dead?" I asked.
"He told me to kill..." She trailed off and by her shocked expression I take it as she realised something.
"Linda..." I said carefully.
"Chase." She whispered in a hushed tone.
"Pardon?" I choked.
"He told me to kill Chase... Chase Wellington." Her hands started to shake, "I am so sorry Mel."
I stiffened what if they are still after him?
"Can you just give me a sec?" I said faintly. I really should be comforting Linda but right now I need to call Chase.
I scrolled through my contact landing on his pressing the call button; it rang twice before he answered.
"Is there anything wrong?" Chase asked in a worried tone.
"N-No but Linda told me why." I said feeling a lump in my throat.
"Why?" I heard his keys and him say, "I am coming over."
That sparked something in my mind, "No!"
"Why?" Chase repeated.
"That's what they want." I said in a knowing tone.
"What?" Chase was beyond confusion.
"They wanted you dead Chase, they asked Linda to kill you almost a year ago. They probably still want to kill you." I struggled to let out.
"Who is they?" Chase said in a muffled tone.
"Jed and all of them." I felt Chase suck in a breath on the other line.
"I am coming over." Was all he said before he hung up.
Linda came into the room with her hands behind her back, "What did you tell him?"
"He is coming over." I said suspiciously.
She grinned and leaped onto me tackling me to the ground. She smeared whip cream all over my face laughing.
"Linda! I am going to get you back!" I shrieked, "You scared the hell out of me!"
She chuckled running up the stairs screaming as I grabbed her ankle.
I heard a knock on the door, "Melody! Are you okay?"
Opening the door laughing, "Yeah."
"Why is there whip cream on your face?" He said taking some cream off my face and tasting it, "What a waste."
"HaHa." I said sarcastically.
"Anyways, did you get my text?" He said shutting the door behind him locking the door.
"No?" I said grabbing my phone from the back pocket to see that I did get a text.
'Lock everything'
I nodded and yelled for Linda to do the same as she was sitting on the stairs. After everything was secure and sealed.
"Why did you want to lock everything up?" I said giving him a hug which he returned squeezing my shoulder comfortingly.
"I think they wanted Linda to be here tonight." Chase said in a low tone, "Derrick is out the back keeping watch."
"Why? He needs to sleep Chase." I said about to unlock the window to yell for Derrick to come inside.
"No he is fine, he is across the road in his car. They are trying to attack you." He said pulling me away from the window sill.
"Why? Me? They are trying to kill you Chase." I said rolling my eyes.
"They want to hurt me first then leave me to die." Chase said.
"And hurting me will hurt you?" I countered.
"Yes." He said his eyes glazing over, "It worked with Felicity."
"Chase...." I said in sorrow.
I leaning into his arms giving him a massive embrace as he softly said, "I just want to keep you safe."
"I will be. Just as long as you are as well." I sincerely said, "Promise?"
"I promise." He defiantly said.
We just stood there for a few seconds soaking up the warmth of each other allowing green eyes clash with blue.
***
I woke up the next morning to see Linda sleeping on the couch and Chase in the kitchen with a paled look on his face.
"Chase?" I asked walking over to him gingerly.
He turned around holding a rock in his hand as I took it out of his hand,
It read:
'Hand Linda over, or your friend by the name of Cassie is dead- T'
