- JACE SINCLAIR -
It's been 24 hours since I've last seen Aurelia.
My chest has been filled with anxiety since I read the note. I kept re-reading it, wondering if she left me any clues or ideas as to where she is.
I know she read the file I had on her in the bunker, I saw it when she left my office. But I decided I let her read it than have her think I'm hiding something.
I will admit though, what I have is pretty bad stuff.
I had Ollie and Rez out looking for her, but so far they'd come up empty handed.
Everyone was wondering why I was on such high alert and I couldn't quite figure out what to tell them.
That a girl escaped because I have top-secret information that could risk the lives of everyone? Yeah, didn't think so.
I sighed, reading over her neat handwriting.
Jace,
Thank you for taking care of me and keeping me safe.
I will always love you.
Aurelia.
That was all she wrote. Four simple lines. But still, it tugged at my heart strings. I don't know what she meant by it, I don't know why she ran away.
If she ran away because of the file, I need to find her and explain the reasoning behind it.
Ollie and Rez came bursting into my office, "Anything?" I questioned, "Have you found anything?"
They shook their heads, I sighed. "FUCK!" I screamed, "I just got her back, where the fuck could she be?"
My nerves were through the roof right now. She could be anywhere, half-way across the country by now.
"We did find this though." Ollie said with a guilt-stricken look, handing me a leather bound notebook.
There was a string holding it together, rips and tears on the front of the book.
I opened the book and traced my finger along the letters of her name.
Aurelia Jones
I flipped through the pages, "Check the last entry." The guys said.
I looked at their faces, but judging by their body language, it's not good.
My hands shook as I flipped to the last entry.
May 11th 2034
This is my last entry.
A walker attacked me, scratched it's DNA under my skin. Jace, if you find this -
I love you.
I dropped the notebook to the floor. "Jace?" Ollie said.
I shook my head, "No. I refuse to believe she's gone." I said quietly, "It's not true. She's out there somewhere."
Someone knocked on my office door, "What?" I yelled.
