- AURELIA JONES -
It felt like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders.
But also like a freight train had hit me in the head.
I'd cried so much during this conversation I was scared I'd actually popped a blood vessel in my head from all the talking and sobbing.
I explained the immunity, the blood, the cure and everything else I read in the file. I told the boys I was angry with them, that they lied to me and betrayed me.
They understood, better than anyone which is why it's so hard to stay mad them.
Considering they're my best friends and the only people I have, I forgave them instantly, excluding the fact that the thought of it still made my blood boil, the initial shock of it all was wearing off and I was coming to terms with the fact that my blood is the cure.
"I'm not sure how or why I discovered this, but I know it's true. If it wasn't, those walkers would've attacked me immediately. But they didn't."
No one had talked since I started, it's been hours. The sun is fully risen, it's hot and there's a cool breeze wafting through.
"Is that why you asked for the needles?" Angel asked in a small voice.
I nodded, "If you guys wanted too..." I started off, "I'd be happy to share." I laughed humorlessly, "But I'd want to test it first, to be sure. I'd rather be safe than sorry."
"As much as I agree with you and would love to be immune to all of this- how the hell do you propose we test this without a lab? And how can you say for sure it'll work with all of us? I know that I'm O neg for my blood type but what about Lyza? Or Shoju?" Rez started.
"He's exotic, he could be A positive for all we know."
Shoju laughed, "I'm O neg too." Placing a reassuring hand on my thigh, I was comforted by the warmth radiating off his palm.
Angel's eyes shot to the movement, the ghost of a smile on her lips.
"I want to do it! I want to be immune!" Lyza said from her seat in the corner, "I want to be cured! I hate those stupid walker thingys!"
I patted the seat next to me and scooched over, making room for the munchkin to come and sit. She obliged and leaned against me, "I'll do anything to make this go away." She sighed.
"Okay look- there may be a way to test it but-" Angel paused, raising a finger, "It's dangerous and stupid and I wouldn't recommend it."
"But there is a way?" I asked, a glimmer of hope shooting through me. She nodded, "A very, thin possibility, yes."
All of a sudden the world seemed brighter and I wanted to kiss Angel.

"Something else is out there, something bigger." I stated, pulling at the grass with my fingers.
"Did you see the way those walkers left me alone? After the big one came from the bushes."
Angel and I were outside in the grass watching Lyza.
The boys had gone to find any medical supplies we could use to test my blood for a cure.
She nodded, "It was weird."
"I was so scared. I wasn't sure it was going to work." I laughed, laying on my elbows so I could marinate in the sun.
