- AURELIA JONES -
With Angel's return and Marion's confession, I truly believe everything is going to be okay.
Aside from the fact that something Marion wrote in her letter has been bugging me since I read it. I kept re-reading it over and over, ignoring the fact that everyone was yelling at me to hurry up.
I explained everything to them, the safe-house, the marina, Lyza being with us. The only thing I left out was the part about the immunity... although something tells me Rez has caught on.
"How did you manage to score these?" I gawked, slinging my backpack onto my back as I looked up at the two giant four-wheel drives. Angel shrugged, "My time away was... interesting to say the least."
I snorted, "I noticed the new addition, it's cute." I smirked. She rolled her eyes, "You can't say much." She nodded toward Shoju.
According to Angel, she'd left after Ariel died. She was so angry with the capitol and at Jace for not doing more to save her sister and the baby, she just left. No one knew where she was.
Aside from Rez. Apparently he'd followed her for a while and she discovered him when she got herself into some trouble with some walkers. "Come to think of it, isn't that how you and Shoju met?" Ollie asked, as Angel was explaining her story.
I looked at Shoju who was already looking at me. "I climbed a tree and he saved my life, no big deal." I said, looking away as my cheeks heated up. "Whatever you say." Shoju spoke.
"Aurelia... I'm hungry." Lyza said, tugging on my sweater. I looked down at her and frowned, "I know babe I'm sorry. Um-" I paused, opening my pack. "Here." I said, handing her my last silver packet of dried fruit.
Her eyes lit up as she tore into the packet, scoffing it down like water on a hot day.
We all piled into the vehicles, Rez, Ollie and Angel taking one car, Shoju, Lyza and I taking the other. "Do you want me to drive?" I asked, buckling Lyza in.
Shoju shook his head, "I'm sure I'll manage." He smiled. I shrugged, "Whatever you say." I replied, feeling his eyes on me.
I made my way to the front and pulled myself in, tucking my legs underneath myself. "Ready to go?" Rez called from window. I waved a hand out the window and Shoju started the car.
It rumbled to a start and I heard a crackle through the walkie-talkie.
Ollie insisted we use them to keep in contact with each other, just in case. I'm surprised he managed to find the batteries for it, but I'm glad we have them.
"Just checking it works, over." Ollie said.
I laughed to myself, "Put your seatbelt on."
I managed to make out a loud laugh from Angel in the backseat and turned off the walkie, "Wake me up in Vermont."
When I was woken up, we weren't in Vermont.
"Gas break." Shoju said, shaking me softly. I peeled my eyes open and turned to Lyza in the back who was fast asleep, "Let me drive next, please. You need to rest."
He shook his head, shutting the door before turning away.
I frowned, unfolding my arms from their position and stretching out in the car. The boys muffled conversation from outside woke me up, and I grabbed the walkie from the centre console.
"Angel, you there?" I clicked the side button.
"Affirmative." She said back.
"Okay just checking."
