- AURELIA JONES -
Unable to move from the vulnerable position I was currently in, Shoju shimmied his body from underneath mine.
I scrambled for my shirt, our door bursting open as Angel came in.
"You guys heard that right?"
I nodded, "Where's Rez?" I asked.
"He's with Ollie. They heard it too."
Panic.
"I'm sure it's fine."
I scoffed, "I highly doubt that." I winced, struggling to stand on my broken body.
"Aside from humans what the hell else knows how to knock?" I freaked, running my hands over my face.
"Not to mention that we've been hunted by these humans so Km not liking our chances. At all."
Sitting on the bed in defeat, silence filled the room.
Deafening, drowning silence.
This is our life now. Everywhere we turn, we have to watch out for Walkers.
Now this? It's bullshit!
"Hey Angel um-" Rez said, clearing his throat. "Rez?" She said.
He peered inside the room, raising his eyebrows at us as if to signal something.
"I could use your help in the kitchen." He said.
Angel and I looked at each other, "O-kay?" She said confusedly, "Back in a sec."
The door shut and Shoju and I were alone. "What the hell is going on?" I asked.
He shrugged, "Beats me. I feel like we're about to hear some back news though."
I laughed humourlessly, "What makes you say that?"
He shrugged again, "Did you see the way he looked at Angel? Or the fact that Ollie wasn't with him?"
I hadn't noticed that.
"I guess you're right."
"Why don't we just go out there anyway?" I said. "It's more fun this way. Let's guess what the news is."
I slapped his shoulder as he took a seat next to me. "Maybe there was a bomb on the doorstep."
"We'd be dead." He said flatly.
I frowned, "True."
"Maybe whoever was at the door was an old friend that they're not ready to re-introduce to us yet."
Wait, "Why is that so accurate? Do you know something I don't?"
Shoju shook his head, "Just a guess."
I narrowed my eyes at him, finally giving into my temptations and opening the door.
Shoju followed silently.
I snuck toward to the kitchen, hearing their voices in a hushed whisper.
Deciding that I didn't want to be surprised, I walked into the main area of the house, following the sounds of them talking.
When I walked into the living room I'm not sure what I was expecting.
What stared back at me was something I never would have suspected, at all.
"Gwynn."
+ + +
I stared at her in shock, for a long time.
