chapter twenty nine

- AURELIA JONES -

The past couple of weeks, Hugo had us training every day.

My body was so sore and tired I could barely walk. I basically fell out of bed this morning!

At breakfast, I made my way to the usual table. But I was shocked to find two girls in my spot.

"Lia! You're here! Good." Jace pleaded with wide eyes. I smirked, watching as the two blondes tried flirting with him.

I sat with my tray, keeping quiet. "Lunch and a show? Now this is what I'm talking about." I smirked.

Rez smirked back, nudging my side. "Still no Ollie today?"

Rez frowned, "No. I tried talking to him after dinner last night but- he said he didn't wanna talk."

My eyebrows furrowed, "That's weird. I asked him if he was okay and he said it was a guy problem he couldn't talk about with me."

"You think he's okay?"

I shrugged, "I don't know. Could be anything."

The girls continued to flirt, absentmindedly ignoring the fact that Rez and I were sitting across from them.

Jace looked highly uncomfortable, giving me a glare every time I laughed.

They finally left after they realised he wasn't interested. Then Jace shivered, "Gross!"

"What is gross about two hot chicks man?" Rez said, "Go for it dude, I got mine right there." Jace winked.

Rez pretended to throw up in his mouth, "That's my cue to leave. Bye my lovely friends."

"Do you have training today?" Jace asked. We were holding hands, walking down the hallway to our assigned places.

I nodded, "Unfortunately. Hugo's really kicking my ass, I'm so tired."

Cue a yawn - perfect timing.

Jace chuckled, massaging my shoulders before opening the main door to the auditorium.

Which was really a gymnasium with plastic tied to the roof.

The sound of feet colliding with mats and fists to skin made me cringe.

"I'll see you later, I love you." I kissed him quickly, unzipping my sweater.

I stood by the wall to warm up, stretching my arms and legs.

"Can I have everyone's attention?" Hugo called, "Thanks for coming today everyone! I know you're all tired, you'll get breaks soon, I promise. But, it is vital you start your training now as apart of the program, that way you're ready for anything."

"I'd like to introduce a new friend of mine, who recently lost his base due ti complications. He's going to be a teacher, and a leader."

"Jace, please come introduced yourself."

My head whipped round when Hugo said that, eyes following along the familiar brunette as he crossed the 'stage'.
