- AURELIA JONES -

I woke up to an empty bed, a note in scribbly hand-writing perched on the floor.

Didn't wanna wake you - Jace

I scrunched the note and got up, my warm feet meeting the cold ground.

After getting myself ready, I skipped breakfast and headed to the garden.

It was a beautiful day for the first time in weeks and I wanted to feel the sun. It had been so long since I'd felt the sun and not been numb.

This time, I feel like I deserve it.

I was met with fresh air and sunshine, lying against a tree in the garden as others who were staying did their daily walks.

I pulled out a notebook I took from the Capitols infirmary, and started writing my first entry.

The Capitol isn't necessarily a bad place, but when your city was overrun by a virus and there's no more government, people tend to get big headed.

Safe zones and quarantines were quickly set up by those who remained in charge, but after almost 15 years of radioactive silence... people began to get reckless.

Now we have some alliance with them, a rebellion, the citadel and Arkna.

Yesterday I saw something weird.

When I was visiting Angel's grave, I placed a wildflower down. The flower has a long green stem and beautiful white flowers. Like a hydrangea but in the shape of corn.

A Walker came along. I got scared, I tried not to move. But the Walker got closer and, died.

Like seriously died.

It fell into a bed of the wildflowers I'd picked from and died.

I suspect it has something to do with the flowers, but before I could investigate the doctor who was looking after me caught me and told me to go inside.

It was weird, and I feel like the capitol is hiding something. I'm not sure-

"Hey!" Someone interrupted.

I looked up through squinted vision to see a curly-headed blonde girl.

She smiled at me. She looked younger, maybe eleven or twelve. I closed my notebook and smiled back.

"Hey there."

"I'm Lyza, with a Y!" She said cheerily. I smiled, "Hi Lyza with a Y, I'm Aurelia."

She sat down next to me, "How old are you?" She smiled, "Twenty three. How old are you?"

"Eleven."

Bang on the money.

Lyza picked at the grass where she was sitting, "My mommy said she's seen you around the garden a lot".

I nodded, "I like being outside".

"Lyza! Who are you talking too?" A man said. We both looked up, it's the doctor.

"Daddy!" Lyza smiled, running over to him.

The doctor, who's name I still didn't know, picked up Lyza. He looked at me with a strange look, "Time for lunch sweetheart, go find your Mom."

"Bye Aurelia." Lyza waved. I waved back, but the smile plastered on my face was entirely face.

Just like the demeanour of the doctor changed when his daughters back was to us.
