Chapter 10
Kim Jae-soo and An Na-ri stood in front of the grand entrance of ANRANG Television Station, a renowned broadcasting company known for its exceptional news coverage and entertaining shows. It was a sunny morning, and the air buzzed with excitement as the two aspiring journalists clutched their internship application documents tightly.
"I can't believe we're actually doing this, Jae-soo," An Na-ri whispered, his eyes gleaming with anticipation. "ANRANG is like a second home to me."
Jae-soo nodded, sharing in his excitement. "I've heard so much about this place. I hope to get the chance to intern here and learn from the best."
As they walked through the polished glass doors, An Na-ri couldn't help but feel a mix of excitement and nervousness. This was his chance to prove himself, not just as An Joon-ho's ger son but as an aspiring journalist in his own right. Jae-soo, too, shared in his anticipation, eager to embark on this new chapter of their lives together. ANRANG Television Station played a big role in shaping Na-ri's passion for journalism, thanks to her father, An Joon-ho.
The lobby of ANRANG Television Station exuded an air of professionalism and creativity. A receptionist greeted them warmly, her smile indicating that she recognised An Na-ri. "Good morning, youngest master An. How can I assist you today?"
An Na-ri returned the smile, his nerves settling a bit. "Good morning. Jae-soo and I are here to submit our internship applications."
The receptionist nodded, reaching for a clipboard. "Of course. Please fill out these application forms and attach your resumes. Once you're done, you can hand them in here, and I'll make sure they reach the appropriate department."
An Na-ri and Jae-soo took a seat in the waiting area, feeling a mixture of excitement and determination. An Na-ri began filling out the application form, meticulously writing his details and highlighting his previous journalistic experiences, while Jae-soo focused on capturing his own journey through words.
As they completed the forms, An Na-ri couldn't help but glance around, taking in the familiar surroundings. The vibrant energy of the station was contagious, reminding him of the countless hours he had spent here with his eldest brother, An Min Jun, observing and learning about the world of journalism.
Just as they were about to stand up and hand in their applications, An Min Jun walked briskly into the lobby, people walking behind him. His eyes widened with surprise when he spotted An Na-ri.
"Na-ri! What a pleasant surprise!" he exclaimed, a hint of pride in his voice. "Are you here to submit your internship applications?"
An Na-ri stood up, his heart swelling with a mix of emotions. "Yes, Hyung. We've been working hard to prepare for this moment."
An Min-Jun's eyes gleamed with a mixture of brotherly love and professional respect. "I'm glad to see you finally taking this step. ANRANG is an excellent place to nurture your passion for journalism."
Jae-soo bowed respectfully. "Thank you, Mr. An. We appreciate the opportunity to apply for an internship here."
An Min-Jun finally noticed his youngest brother's friend he was a little bit familiar with then he patted Jae-soo's shoulder, his voice filled with encouragement. "You both have what it takes to make an impact in this industry. I wish you the best of luck."
With their applications still in hand, An Na-ri and Jae-soo approached the reception desk once again. The receptionist accepted the forms, giving them an encouraging smile. "Thank you for your applications. We will review them carefully, and you will be notified about the next steps."
As they left ANRANG Television Station, a sense of accomplishment washed over An Na-ri and Jae-soo. They had taken a significant step towards their dreams, and regardless of the outcome, they knew they had given their all.
Then the duo walked towards the café a trekkable distance from the television station. Over a cup of coffee, An Na-ri shared stories of his older brothers intern days at ANRANG.
Kim Jae-soo and An Na-ri, returned to their shared apartment after submitting their internship applications at ANRANG Television Station. The atmosphere was charged with a mix of excitement and relief as they stepped through the front door.
An Na-ri kicked off his shoes, a wide grin spreading across his face. "We did it, Jae-soo! We took that big step towards our dreams. I couldn't be happier."
Jae-soo's eyes sparkled with joy as he joined him in the living room. "I'm so proud of us, Na-ri. We've come a long way, and this application is a testament to our hard work and dedication."
An Na-ri plopped down on the couch, his enthusiasm was contagious. "Let's celebrate, Jae-soo! We deserve it. Our friendship and support have brought us this far, and I know we can conquer anything together."
Jae-soo laughed, feeling a little weight was off his shoulders. "You're right, Na-ri. A celebration is in order. What do you have in mind?"
An Na-ri's eyes lit up with mischief. "How about we make our favorite comfort food, binge-watch our favorite TV shows, and indulge in some well-deserved relaxation?"
Jae-soo grinned, embracing the idea. They quickly changed into comfortable clothes and headed to the kitchen. Working in harmony, they prepared their favorite dishes—spicy ramen, crispy fried chicken, and an array of delicious snacks. Laughter filled the air as they chatted and reminisced about random things that affected their lives.
Sitting side by side on the couch, plates filled with food in their laps, they pressed play on their favourite show. The familiar theme song of IF I GREW TALLER filled the room, bringing a sense of comfort and nostalgia. They laughed, gasped, and shared their thoughts on the characters and storylines, with each of them reciting their favourite lines.
In the midst of their laughter and shared moments, they took a break to reflect on their friendship.
Jae-soo's eyes glimmered with sincerity. "I can't express how grateful I am to have you by my side. You've been the only one who really worries about me. Thank you for being the best friend I could ever ask for."
As the evening progressed, they savored their favorite treats, indulging in the simple pleasure of each other's company. As the night drew to a close, they exchanged knowing glances, their hearts full of hope and renewed determination. They knew that no matter what the future held, they would face it together, armed with their shared dreams and the unbreakable bond of their friendship.
They walked to their respective rooms, bidding each other goodnight. As they drifted off to sleep, a sense of contentment settled over them. They were ready to face whatever the next days ahead brought.
That night was dreamless for the first time since Jae-soo's rebirth.
