Chapter 69.

Ji Hu sat in the grand, imposing office of Baek Holdings, facing his grandmother, Madam Bang, and his father. The chairman's office was a testament to power and wealth, featuring floor-to-ceiling windows that offered a panoramic view of the bustling city below. The walls were adorned with tasteful art pieces, each carefully selected to reflect the company's history and success. A massive mahogany desk dominated the center of the room, its surface polished to a mirror-like shine. Behind it stood a tall leather chair, exuding authority and command. To one side, a seating area with plush sofas and a glass coffee table provided a space for more informal discussions, while a bar stocked with the finest spirits stood ready for moments of celebration or contemplation.

They had convened this urgent meeting because Madam Bang had called it in response to the recent marriage proposal from Choi Min Jun, a move steeped in the history of an old debt. More than a decade ago, Choi Min Jun had saved Ji Hu and his father, and now he sought to claim his reward.

Madam Bang glared at her son, her eyes sharp with frustration. "You couldn't just thank him by injecting capital into the Choi company. Instead, you promised to fulfill any of his wishes and even gave him Baek Holdings' 5% shares," she ranted, her voice rising with each word. Her son, usually so composed and confident, shrunk in his seat under her scolding.

"Ma, I didn't expect he would suddenly want us to fulfill his wish after so long," he mumbled, his gaze dropping to avoid her piercing stare. Madam Bang, not one to let her anger dissipate easily, picked up a throw pillow from the sofa she was sitting on and hurled it at him. He barely dodged it, the pillow landing with a soft thud on the floor.

Ji Hu, sitting quietly, decided it was time to intervene. "Grandma, no need to cry over spilled milk," he said, a small, reassuring smile playing at the corners of his lips. His mind flashed back to his second life, where his grandmother had fallen into a coma and later died, a mystery he had unraveled only after Jae Soo's death. He had discovered the second branch had been bribing the doctor to poison her, providing a fake autopsy report to cover their tracks.

Madam Bang turned to him, her expression softening slightly. "Now that greedy man wants to insert his wild child into the Baek main family," she replied, her voice heavy with disdain.

Ji Hu leaned forward, ready to share the information he had uncovered. "No need to worry about the marriage, Grandma. In fact, he is in alliance with the branch family, and you know what that means," he said, his tone calm and confident. He handed over the documents Man Sung Ho had sent him. These documents detailed the secret meetings between Choi Min Jun and the second branch, their plans to hold a banquet in a month, and their machinations to infiltrate the Baek main family.

Madam Bang took the documents, her eyes narrowing as she scanned the contents. The room fell into a tense silence, the weight of their scheming becoming apparent. Ji Hu's father looked over her shoulder, his expression shifting from confusion to anger as he read.

Ji Hu leaned back in his chair, a smirk playing on his lips. "With this information, we can take proactive measures. We need to tighten our circle, scrutinize our alliances, and prepare for any underhanded moves they might make," he said, his voice filled with a quiet resolve.

Madam Bang nodded, her expression hardening with determination. "We will not let them succeed. The Baek family will not be brought down by deceit and treachery, not during my time as matriarch and not even after," she declared, her voice firm and unwavering.

Ji Hu's father, still recovering from the shock of the revelation, regained some of his composure. "We need to act swiftly and decisively. We can't let them think they have the upper hand," he added, his voice steady.
