After returning to his room, Taehyung took a shower and headed to his bed. He sat there and picked up a photograph of Chaeyoung. The photo frame had previously been destroyed by Chaeyoung at his bedside, but he had already repaired it.
The photograph inside that photo frame was a picture that he had put together himself.
Knock, knock, knock.
"Come in," Taehyung placed the photo on his bedside. He looked up and said, "Mom."
Won Hae closed the door behind her and walked towards her son.
Taehyung stood up and helped Won Hae sit down. He then pulled a stool over and sat down opposite Won Hae.
"I know about the family business. Your father is getting out of hand," Won Hae said in disappointment.
Taehyung did not say anything.
He did not care.
"Kim Enterprise has nothing to do with the Kim family, he can do whatever he wants," Taehyung said mildly. "I will never go back to the Kim family. Six years ago, both of us cut ties with them."
Won Hae held her son's hand as she glanced at the photograph on the table. "Taehyung , it has been so many years. It would be good if you let go—"
"Mom, it's late. You should go and rest," Taehyung interrupted his mother before she could finish.
Won Hae held back all the words she had not spoken. She hesitated then said, "As long as you are happy, I am happy. Mom will go and rest now."
Won Hae got up and left the room.
Her son had never known what love was but once he had experienced it, that person became his obsession. He had learned how to love, but he only knew how to love one person.
Unfortunately, that person was long gone.
After sending Won Hae off, Taehyung closed the door and returned to his bed. He picked up the photograph again.
"Chaeyoung, look what you've done. Didn't you care about mom the most? Now, look how sad she is because of you. Can you really bear to watch her like this?" Taehyung said, sorrow brimming in his eyes.
Although it sounded like he was blaming Chaeyoung, he seemed to be hoping for something.
He was hoping that she was still well and alive.
He was hoping that she would return to his side.
He was willing to do anything to get her back.
If she hated his indifference, he could learn how to communicate with others for her sake.
If she hated that he hurt her when he spoke, he could learn how to speak sweet nothings to her.
He was willing to do anything, as long as she came back to him.
"Chaeyoung, who is the bastard now? You were the one who taught me what love was, and you were also the one who said until death do us part," Taehyung murmured as he traced Chaeyoung's face in the photo.
The glass of the photo frame was cold and when his fingertips touched it, it felt like ice that was about to break. Just like his heart.
Taehyung placed the photo frame on the table, got up and went to the dark room.
This used to be the place where Chaeyoung hid her love, but now it was a place for him to keep their memories. Though now he realized that the memories between them were so miserable.
