Chapter 561: Mr. Kim Got Injured
Chaeyoung stopped persuading Taehyung to shower his son with hugs and kisses because it now seemed a bit unrealistic to her.
The woods were so quiet at night, like the animals had all gone to sleep.
Chaeyoung leaned against Taehyung's chest with her eyes closed and listened to his heartbeat. "Don't forget about the proposal you owe me."
Taehyung chuckled affectionately. "Alright, I will give you one when we get back."
Chaeyoung continued to mumble. It was so soft that Taehyung didn't hear most of what she said, and he looked down when she fell completely silent to find her asleep.
Taehyung kissed Chaeyoung's forehead then leaned against a tree to take a nap.
The birds began to chirp as the sun rose the next morning. Chaeyoung found herself lying on the ground with Taehyung's coat on her when she woke up, and saw Taehyung roasting something over a fire nearby.
Chaeyoung rubbed her eyes and got up from the ground barefooted. Since her feet were not used to such rough surfaces, hers had begun to sting.
Taehyung went to Chaeyoung when he noticed she had woken up and carried her to the fire.
"You went there again?" He wouldn't have what he was roasting if he didn't.
Chaeyoung noticed the blood on Taehyung's back and reached out to grab Taehyung's shoulders. On his back were a few claw marks which were bleeding so much his white shirt was drenched in blood.
"I am fine. Quick, have some food. I heard your stomach growling even in your sleep. Also, we might have to cross the swamp if the rescue team doesn't get here by afternoon."
Taehyung didn't seem to be bothered by the wounds on his back at all. In fact, he was the one comforting Chaeyoung about it.
Chaeyoung looked at the meat that Taehyung passed to her then took it. "What hurt you?"
Taehyung looked at the cuts on his back and remembered the intense fight before dawn. "An eagle attacked me when I wasn't looking. Don't worry, I am fine."
Taehyung said and swung his right arm. It felt better than yesterday, but not good enough to make sure that they could cross the swamp safely.
Chaeyoung's tears dropped on the meat as she lowered her head.
"You didn't cry after what happened yesterday, why are you crying now?" Taehyung asked gently as he reached out to pull Chaeyoung into his arms.
Chaeyoung couldn't explain why but she just felt like crying.
Taehyung had got hurt because he wanted to get her something to eat. If it weren't for her, Taehyung might have left this place already.
"It was nothing serious. I have gotten injured so many times, and this is just a small injury. I will be fine," said Taehyung as he wiped Chaeyoung's tears off her cheeks carefully.
Chaeyoung sniffled and lifted her head, her eyes wet. "Every inch of Mr. Kim is precious. Did you have my permission for hurting him like that?"
Taehyung looked at Chaeyoung acting unreasonably. She was crying and pretending to be fierce at the same time, and it made him love her even more.
"Well said. I finally got you to say things like that," Taehyung laughed and patted Chaeyoung's back gently, "eat more. I can't guarantee that they got our message with the battery we have. The swamp is the most challenging part, and having enough energy is definitely going to help."
