We sat together for a while, talking about all sorts of things. When the phone rang, Bobby answered it and left the room. I learned that Sam and Dean's mother had been killed by a yellow-eyed demon and that their father had spent his whole life hunting it. I remembered what I had told Dean earlier: That John Winchester was a great dad. Now I deeply regretted that statement. He was the complete opposite of a good father.
Bobby came back and sat down with us again. "I'm going to go away for a while to help Rufus with a case in Texas." "Can I come with you?" I asked hopefully. "Sara, you're still in training. It's far too dangerous. I can't look after you." "I understand." Then Sam suddenly had an idea. "Why don't you move in with us?" "Yeah," Dean replied. "Then Sam can read his boring books with you and I can teach you to become a real hunter." I had to smile at the thought. "I'd love to." Bobby agreed and I went up to my room to pack my things.
When I was done, Dean stuffed my bags in the Impala. I took Bobby in my arms and whispered, "Thank you." He replied with a nod and then turned to the boys. "You guys take care of her, you hear me?" Dean grinned widely at me. "We will."
I got into the backseat and Dean started driving.***
It took us almost 3 hours to drive to get to their home. It was an old bunker hidden away in the middle of nowhere. I gasped when we arrived. It was huge. There were concrete walls everywhere and there was no roof. It reminded me of the bunker in Breaking Bad. "I didn't expect this place to be so big," I said in amazement.
"Well, it's just big enough to fit all of Sam's books, " Dean added ironically. I had to laugh. When we parked the car, I got out and looked around. The place was surrounded by trees and there was a small river nearby. I really liked it. Dean grabbed my bags and carried them inside, I followed him quickly.Once we were all inside, Sam showed me my new room. It was small, but everything I needed was there. A bed with a view of a TV, a shelf with lots of books and a white wardrobe. Because I didn't have much with me, I finished quickly. I started to get hungry. I went to the kitchen and opened the fridge, but there was nothing but beer and bacon. I rolled my eyes and entered the living room, where Dean and Sam were sitting at a table, talking about something. "Do you guys have any real food?" I asked them. Sam looked annoyed. "You said you wanted to go shopping." Dean looked at him innocently. "I...never said that." Sam sighed and stood up. "Be right back." "Wait, I'll come with you," I shouted, following him up the stairs.
We drove to a small grocery store nearby. When we had gotten everything important, it suddenly came to my mind. "Damn it. We forgot the pie." I went in again and got it. Then we drove back.
Once in the bunker, I sat down at the table and unwrapped my pie while Sam stashed the other stuff in the fridge. Dean sat down with me and looked at the cake. "You want some?" I asked him with a grin. Before he could answer, I split the pie into 2 halves and slid one of them over to him. He smiled. "Thanks."
"Can I ask you something?" I took a bite and nodded. "Why did you want to be a huntress?" I looked to the side and hesitated. "Because I want to help people." But he wasn't satisfied with that answer. "But that's not all, is it?" He looked at me for a moment and then shook his head. "No. There's more than just helping people... isn't there?"
He was right. There was something else... "I really don't want to talk about it right now okay?" He smiled in understanding. "It's okay. You don't have to tell. But you need to know that you can talk to us about anything. Except for girly things like make-up and dresses. Unless...I'm sure if you ask nicely, Sam can give you some tips." We grinned at each other and continued eating. After a few minutes, I started speaking. "Have you ever felt like you had to do something even when you knew it wasn't good for you?" Dean answered without hesitation. "I feel that every day."
I thought for a moment before I started talking again. "I want to become a huntress because I want to find the monster that murdered my mother." The look on his face told me everything I needed to know. I bit my lip and looked away from him. "I'm sorry. That was too much information..." He reached out and grabbed my hand. His eyes were full of sympathy as he spoke.
"I can understand that very well. And we will help you with that. But you have to promise me one thing. Don't waste your whole life looking for it. It's not worth it." I nodded. My gaze wandered to his hand, which still held mine. Normally I would have pulled it away immediately but with Dean it was special. I had the desire to keep touching Dean. It felt good somehow... I looked deep into his eyes and smiled. They reminded me of a forest clearing where I used to play with Jo. Suddenly Sam appeared and Dean let go of my hand.
