(inspired by the Disney movie, Frozen. You take the place of Elsa, but this chapter has more dark themes.)

It was so quiet, and you couldn't get enough of it. No more diplomats nagging you at every corner; no more foreign countries knocking on your doorstep.

Ice swirled from your fingertips, and disappeared into the air. It felt so good to just let it go. You didn't have to hold back yourself like before. Everyone judged you, waiting for one little thing to go awry. Then, they'd make a mockery of you.

You were the Queen. That was your kingdom, not theirs. Before your parents passed, they had arranged a marriage with a prince from an outside nation. They believed that with both of your quirks, your countries would unite and conquer all else.

It was a mistake.

Rather than being a more political marriage, he would never leave you alone. He'd pester you with sweet nothings, and try everything to make you happy. This wasn't the problem, in fact, your heart melted with his actions. You never thought your future husband could be so caring.

Then, you found him in the main chambers with your personal maid.

That was the day you left everything behind. Anyone who stepped in your way, you showed them how you truly felt. Their bodies became encased in ice, and that ice would never melt. They will be damned in isolation for eternity.

In the palace that you had created for yourself, you passed your days by meditating or creating ice sculptures. Your palace was adorned with several different designs. Then, you accidentally created a little snow man. Unexpectedly, he came to life. You decided to name him Olaf, and you had become fond of him during the days you experienced your newfound freedom. He'd sing you songs, and was really the only person who ever truly cared about you in a very long time.

A month went by, then two, then three. It had been six months you had tasted freedom. But, a dream this sweet was never meant to last.

After the second month, your abdomen started to swell. You figured it must have been hormonal imbalances. While alone and free, you did whatever your heart desired. You'd run, laugh, and do whatever you pleased. Then, it only started to grow.

Reality started to creep it's way inside your mind. As a way to cope, you completely ignored your growing tummy. You turned a blind eye to the subtle kicks and movements. Your heart cracked over time, knowing that it would only become worse. Olaf tried to be comforting, even though he didn't understand pregnancy. In other words, he just assumed you were becoming chubby. His innocent and carefree mind couldn't comprehend the darkness that swirled inside.

The sixth month dwindled by. Today, you were once again, creating a delicate ice sculpture. It was of Arendelle. The castle was intricately shaped, and the nearby buildings that you memorized by heart surrounded it.

Your feeling of happiness slowly dissipated when remembering how captive you felt while there. The quirk you developed would frequently become out of control, and everyone didn't waste a second to spread rumors. Some called you a monster, others admired you. None of it mattered anymore. You were far away on a mountain, secluded in your own castle. Nobody could hurt you anymore.

Your state of mind shattered when the doors to your chambers were abruptly opened. Olaf came running in, and if he wasn't made of snow, he'd be sweating. His eyes were wide open in surprise.

"My queen! There's soldiers at the staircase! What do we do?!" The little snowman paced back and forth, and laced his twig fingers.

You took a deep breath, and reminded yourself to keep calm. It was going to be okay. You weren't going back.
