The school was dark, and shadows lurked around every corner. You had been so stupid. If you had the slightest bit of common sense, you would have known to not come here.
That afternoon, you left your bag. It had been dark by the time you had returned home, and in any other case you would wait until morning to retrieve it. The biggest problem, was that your phone was inside.
Entering your home room class, you sighed with relief upon finding your bag. Unzipping it, you paused noticing that your phone was missing. Did you really come to school after dark, just to go home empty handed? There's no way. You had to have left it here.
The doors behind you slid open, and then closed. The hair on your arms raised. You'd been caught. You spun around, fully prepared to apologize and beg for forgiveness, but it was no security cop.
Your friend, Midoriya, stood in front of you. In his hand, was your cellphone. He gripped it so tightly, that you could see small cracks starting to form on the edges. The skin on his hands was stark white from the pressure. He maintained a sheepish smile on his face.
Nothing was said for a few moments. The way that the silence engulfed the both of you felt awkward.
"Thank god you're not a cop...heh..." You joked.
Midoriya didn't say anything; he just stood there smiling. In one hand was your phone, the other...behind his back. Little red flags waved themselves in front of your eyes. He wouldn't normally hurt a fly...right?
You took a step forward, and tried to take your phone from his hand. Before your fingers grazed the screen, he pulled his hand away and stepped back. Confused, you stepped further towards him.
"M-Midoriya...this isn't funny...give me the phone." If you weren't scared before, you were now.
"I was going to confess to you this Friday..." The pressure from his grip shattered your phone, and the glass pieces embedded themselves into his hand. "I saw the texts on your phone, senpai." He dropped the phone, and it landed with a thud.
"I...uhm...what do you mean? Why were you looking through my phone?" You slowly tiptoed behind your desk, suddenly desperate to create some kind of barrier between you two.
His eyes looked dead. Their gaze was solely on you, and followed every movement you made. It was horrifying. Something wasn't right with him.
"So, you and Kacchan...eh? I would've never guessed..." With a sudden lunge, he tried to leap across the desk to you. The hand that he held behind his back extended towards you. In his hand, was the sharpest knife you'd ever seen. With a shriek, you leaped to your left.
Midoriya fell to the ground, and you quickly ran out of the classroom.
"Y/N! Come back!" He screamed.
You were halfway down the hallway when he quickly followed suit. The most sickening giggles left his mouth while chasing you. You sped down the staircase, and locked yourself inside the bathroom beside it. It was dark, and no matter how many times you flicked the light switch, the lights wouldn't come on.
You started to hyperventilate. Your phone was destroyed, and your friend was trying to kill you. The tiny bathroom didn't make matters easier either.
Sobs escaped your throat, and tears creeped down your face. You slid down the door, and held your knees close to your body. Your cries became louder hearing the doorknob jiggle behind you.
"Don't be sad! Can you let me in?" Midoriya whispered through the door.
A stretched moment of silence went between you two. It felt like you couldn't breathe. The silence was so loud.
You could hear him sigh, and then the door started to violently shake. Scrambling to the other side of the bathroom, you tried prying the window open. The lock to it seemed to be jammed, but you wouldn't give up hope so quickly.
"Y/N! Let me in! I just wanna talk!" He was using most of his strength to beat the door down. There were small cracks starting to form.
With a cry of happiness, the window finally unlatched. You were halfway out the window when a large hole was made in the door. Midoriya peeked his head in, and was shocked. With a newfound fury, he started to tear the door apart to fit himself in. He completely forgot about just unlocking the door; he was unbelievably angry.
You lost your grip on the edge, and went tumbling down outside. It wasn't too far of a fall, but the impact still knocked the wind out of you momentarily. With a yelp, you picked yourself up off of the ground and ran for the main gate.
To your horror, it was locked unlike before. The fence was too high to jump either. Hearing his screams in the background, you took off towards the cherry blossom tree behind the school.
The bark of the tree was rough against your back, and petals embedded themselves in your hair. Sweat soaked through your clothes, and tears stained your cheeks.
"How did I get into this mess...?" Looking down at your hands, you frowned at the little scratches and blood that covered your skin. His screams stopped, and the small part of you hoped he gave up.
It was a silly thought.
You must have waited for a long while, because when you opened your eyes, it was bright. Slivers of the sun almost blinded you. It was dawn, and school would be opening a few hours from now.
Someone would save you, and you'd immediately report to the police about Midoriya. Would they believe a naive school girl? They would ask what you were doing at school during closing hours, and you'd be arrested.
It wouldn't work. He was always...manipulative. If you wanted to do something, he'd cry and beg to have his own way. If he was able to guilt you that easily, he would have no problem convincing the police that you were crazy.
"Please forgive me if I've hurt you, Senpai..."
He's found me.
Fear made you stay still. Behind you, and the tree, the ground crunched beneath his feet. He was humming the chimes that the bell made whenever next period started.
From your peripheral vision, he was standing to your right. You could see the same knife in his hand from hours prior.
He took a seat beside you on the ground, and let out a length sigh.
"I was planning on bringing you home..." Midoriya played with the knife, spinning it in little circles with his hand. "But, people would see me..."
Tears started to build up in your eyes. This wouldn't end good.
Fingers gripped your jaw, and turned you to look at him. His cheeks were flushed, and his eyes sparkled like glitter. Deep in his pupils, you could see your reflection. Your hair was a mess, your face was a mess; everything was a mess. Your fear was evident.
The sharp end of the knife was poking into your side, below your kidney. You slowly tried to back away, but his hand kept you in place.
"If I can't have you, then no one can." With a sharp thrust of his arm, the blade went plunging in.
You sharply inhaled, horrified at the protrusion. Your shirt became quickly soaked with blood, and it started to leak down below. The pain was absent, but your heart hammered inside your chest.
Tears started to flow out of his eyes, and he withdrew the blade. He positioned it in the same spot as you, and like before, stabbed himself.
The knife was discarded somewhere, and your breaths started to even out slowly. Your eyes started to feel heavy, and your surroundings started to become dull.
You noticed him intertwine his hand with yours, and cradle your head with his. His smile still stayed clear as day.
"In another life, I can try again..."
"愛してます."
I had this on the back burner and felt unmotivated after the first few paragraphs, but finished it anyway. Sorry if it's a little dookie.
