"Try harder, Y/N. You'll never become a villain if you can't control your quirk!" Your mother screamed at you.
She had found a helpless victim on the streets for you to practice on; someone who you would ruin with your quirk. You hated it. Not because of its usage, but because it was inherited from your mother. She herself was an undercover villain who disappeared at night and came back in the morning covered in blood.
Blood Manipulation: The ability to control one's blood in any way or form desired. Drawbacks are reflections of the quirk on the wearer's body.
In order to please your mother, you imagined the man's blood flooding out of the pores from his skin. When thoughts became reality, you further contorted the blood to make shapes in the air. When the man eventually died from blood loss, your mother wasn't impressed.
"Tch...what good are you if you can't even keep a straight face?" She left the training room, slamming the door shut behind her. Your victim's body laid deformed by your feet. Closing your eyes, you tried to imagine something more to life than this.
More training, more bloodshed, more lecturing. Your mother wanted to train you to be the number 1 villain. She wanted to create a legacy. What she didn't realize was that you were slowly killing yourself from using your own quirk.
Your body couldn't handle it like hers could.
The veins in your body would explode one by one, leaving nasty hues of red, purple, and sometimes black. They scaled all up your arms, parts of your chest, and even some of your face. You hated looking at them in the mirror. Your body was starting to shut down, it hurt too much.
The rabbit's blood swirled around your fingertips, creating an art that no one else could appreciate. You cried blood, and didn't acknowledge the sting in your eyes. Your vision was tinged with red. Your heart was tinged with black.
Your mother only realized her mistake when it was too late.
You had snapped, killing at least a dozen people who just so happened to be in your way. Your eyes streamed several bloody tears as you manipulated their blood, letting it float above you in the air. The sunlight made it glisten, and it was honestly beautiful. Well, to you maybe.
"Are you proud, mother? I...I did it...look at me!" You screamed as you killed yet another person.
More blood vessels and veins along your body started to burst from within, and the blood would leak from your skin and drip to the ground. Your mother watched, horrified as you ignored the excruciating pain and continued slaughtering people left and right.
She heard the billowing sirens and calls of the heroes, and quickly left the scene.
A small piece of her heart melted that day.
Several years later, your body was still hellish and gruesome looking to strangers. People still looked at you funny when you wore clothing to hide it. They'd wonder if you were a villain of some sorts.
Maybe.
You still yearned for your mother's approval all these years later, but she still never reached out to you. Since that day, she had completely abandoned you.
Joining the league, the man named Dabi quickly caught your eye. The burnt flesh along his body were just as horrific as your destroyed skin. It was something similar between the two of you that became relevant later on.
Dabi saw you, too. His eyes raked up and down your form, smirking at the way your tank top hugged your chest. Then, his mind blanked out seeing the sickening hues that branched out across your exposed skin.
He spent his days trying to dig up information about you, but your name was completely wiped from public records. After investigating some more, he huffed when he still found nothing.
Dabi decided to directly ask you instead.
That night was filled with words of rage and resentment between the both of you. Dabi felt his heart soften hearing your similar upbringing, although you were being trained to be a villain. In the end, that's what you had become.
The others snickered seeing how you both had become glued to the hip after that day. You two were always together, always talking and laughing with each other. Toga found it quite adorable, and would often tease you about it.
You loved your new home.
It all came crashing down when you were apprehended by your mother, who was now known as a pro-hero. She must have not revealed her sickening ways to the world, or else they'd have long ago locked her up.
Instead of turning you in, she once again, forced her way inside your head. She apologized for her method of training, and admitted her mistakes.
It still didn't ease the resentment.
Months of captivity; months of brainwashing.
She had succeeded.
You had become her perfect little sidekick, and was exposed to the world for all to see. News outlets quickly spread the news of your daughter-mother relationship, and the media ate it right up. It looked perfect to the outside world. No one could see the emptiness in your eyes.
Dabi watched, infuriated seeing how your mother kept you under her thumb. He knew it wasn't the real you. You wouldn't betray them like this.
You were gone for so long, and Dabi didn't stop looking for you. He wanted you back. He needed you back. You were the only one who understood his pain; the only one who he'd even shared his real name with.
Patrol that night was boring as always. Your mother restrained petty villains along the streets, and you only watched from afar. You didn't want to use your quirk on them. It was pointless.
There was a back alley way that both of you passed, and a chilling scream echoed from within. Your mother quickly turned around, and charged into the alleyway.
I know that scream...
Your recognition only grew seeing the familiar blue flames lick the walls, and the glint of the knife catch your eye.
You watched as your mother screamed, begging for mercy at the hands of Dabi and Toga. Her body was burnt and cut beyond belief. With distain, Dabi threw her pathetic remains behind him without a second thought. His eyes softened seeing you in person once again. He ran to you, embracing you with affection.
"Y/N...it's been a while—that bitch was a real pain in the ass..." His arms squeezed you closer, and he subtly rubbed the damaged skin along your arms. Dabi was quick to pepper kisses along your face, but paused when you weren't reacting.
"I...I want my mom back. Did you see where she went?" Your eyes glazed over, lost in perception. Toga stared dumbfounded, but also felt a slight chill run throughout her. Sure, she had slaughtered many people before. But, she'd never seen something as fucked up as this.
Dabi ground his teeth, enraged at the hold your mother still had over you. When would it end? Would you always be under her spell?
"Dabi, maybe we should leave her alone—" Toga advised, but was interrupted when she had to quickly dodge the flame hurdling her way.
His eyes were sharp like steel, and cut through her like one of her knives.
"Shut up...I won't let anyone else take her from me. Not even you."
Toga shivered as they walked back to the hideout, with you being held up by Dabi's shoulder. He cooed whispers of comfort in your ear, but they all went unheard.
Dabi traced the disfigured skin along your face, loving the imperfections you hosted. It was just like his own. He never wanted to look away. Your skin was just so beautiful to him.
"Stay with me, Y/N. You're just like me, anyway."
