Kaili spent a lot of time just making that fruit. Once she was done, she had enough energy to bring it to San Lang (Hua Cheng), and return to Xichen. Since she was low on energy, it was easier for her to maintain her snake form. She can gather her energy better as being in her human form consumes some energy.

Xichen noticed her being a snake more so he felt it was because of her low energy levels. Xichen made sure she ate and even as a snake, she meditates. Kaili coiled up in Xichen's lap as he sat at his desk looking through paperwork. Nie Huaisang has some people looking into Jin Guangyao and Su MinShan as they have been caught doing some suspicious activities. Huaisang said he'd look into it more.

As Kaili was resting and Xichen was just finishing up his paperwork, an older man entered the Hanshi. The man was tall and thin with good posture and a long, black goatee. He was fairly good-looking, although his uptight manner gave him the image of an older man. Kaili sensed tension and anxiety the moment the man entered.

The anxiety came from Xichen but the other man was a bit tense. Even though her energy was only half way restored, she was now alert and crawled up Xichen and coiled around the back of his neck and rested her head on his shoulder. She was sending Xichen some calming energy.

"I haven't seen you for quite some time and I heard from some of the other elders that you had a spiritual companion," the man said, "this snake is the companion?"

Xichen nodded, "hello, Shufu," he said, "this is a deity and snake spirit Ye Kaili. She is kind and also protective of me. I found her when I saw a couple of our juniors picking on her, she was injured by one of the juniors. So I took her in. In the process she bonded with me. I have had her for over a year now. I didn't mean to keep it from you, I have just been busy with mending the sect and taking care of Wangji."

"Wangji is healing nicely from what I heard. And taking care of that boy he took in," The man said.

"He has been doing alright," Xichen said.

"Are you still upset with me?" The man asked.

"I cannot be. We know Wangji went against the elders but there have been some developments since then," Xichen said.

"What developments?" The man asked.

"I can communicate with Kaili, and she has been reaching out to some friends of hers. She has been saying the gods are displeased with some of the Sects," Xichen explained.

"Why?" The man asked.

Though Kaili was still a bit tired, she shifted to her human form to introduce herself, "hello, I am the human form of Kaili. Lan Xichen's spiritual companion."

The man looked at her with shock but then cleared his throat and spoke, "my name is Lan Qiren, Wangji and Xichen's uncle."

"To answer your question about why the gods are displeased, is because the man they had chosen as the next Yin and Yang Master had been accused of crimes he did not commit and committed suicide. The man's fate was altered by the Yin Iron in some way and he was never supposed to die in the first place," Kaili said, "that man's name was Wei Wuxian."

"Wei Wuxian?" Lan Qiren was surprised.

"That is correct," Kaili replied, "the gods are looking into the story behind it but he lost his golden core which was the start of his misfortune. He was never suppose to lose it. I spent a lot of time making a fruit that helps bring the dead back to life. Some friends of mine have Wei Wuxian's body, and since he committed suicide, his soul shattered into several pieces. Due to that, no one could summon him. They spent a lot of time collecting his soul pieces and now they are working to resurrect him. He will resurrect into a god and his memory might be impaired. We are not sure."

"Are these friends of yours to be trusted?" Lan Qiren asked.

"One of them is Xie Lian, the crown prince of the Celestial Kingdom. His husband is also a good friend of mine and his name is Hua Cheng. Also known as Crimson Rain Sought Flower. He is working on bringing Wuxian back. Once he returns, he will be properly trained as a Yin and Yang master," Kaili replied.

"If he still had his golden core, he still would not have been corrupted by resentful energy?" Lan Qiren asked.

"Correct, there are a select few people who can use resentful energy and it not tamper with them in any way. Wei Wuxian was one of them. Something went wrong with his fate and it cause his demise. He wasn't supposed to die. He is also Lan Wangji's soulmate. It is written in the book of fates. I looked myself," Kaili said.

Lan Qiren sighed, "so we caused an innocent man to commit suicide and my youngest nephew was punished for defending him."

"One of my abilities is to cultivate nature and plants as I am an earth goddess along with being a snake spirit. I cultivated a special herb that helps heal his wounds and can even remove the scars as well," She said.

"Thank you for all your efforts to help him and Xichen," Lan Qiren said.

She nodded, "it is my pleasure to do so. If it is alright I only came out to my human form for a little while to speak with you. I used a lot of energy producing a fruit that is to help Wei Wuxian. As a snake I consume less energy and even gain it back faster," she said.

The two men nodded. Kaili shifted as a snake again and moved to Xichen's lap. She crawled back up Xichen's chest and hooked around the back of his neck and rested her head on his shoulder. Lan Qiren felt that there was something more to Kaili then she lets on but he trusted her. She was aiding and protecting Lan Xichen and even going out of her way to help Lan Wangji. Lan Qiren was pleased to meet such a girl.
