~*Kaili' POV*~
"The beauty of music and its uniquely personal nature, playing guqin is a wonderful way to become involved with, and knowledgeable in, Chinese literati culture. This is because, although it is quite possible to enjoy the music simply as music, deep appreciation requires, and should inspire, inquiry into the culture of the people that produced it. This, in turn, reinforces the learning," A'Huan said.
I nodded, "so having a passion for this is important. It will be more effective, especially when using it as a spiritual weapon," I said calmly.
"That is correct, The personal nature of guqin studies is underlined by the quietness of the qin. Many people who are new to the guqin are often eager for success and practice the whole piece every day from beginning to end. Although the whole piece is played, the details cannot stand up to scrutiny!
The correct way should be that we practice basic fingering first. First, practice the basic fingering of the right hand. When practicing, keep your eyes on the right hand and pay attention to maintaining the shape of the hand. After the right hand is proficient, add the left hand practice. Only wait until the basic fingerings are mastered before you start practicing the whole piece! In this way, the tunes that pop up can be connected to each other and the melody is beautiful."
As A'Huan was giving examples, I followed. He had me practice scales to start off as I learned how to properly use my fingers and hands.
(Hey readers, get your minds out of the gutter!).
As he was teaching me, I felt that this was a whole new way for us to bond and connect. It definitely shows how patient of a person he was. He was so kind and if I made a mistake he helped to correct me and in such a sincere way. We practiced for a good half the day that day and we then practiced for a couple hours each day. To keep it from being too much, we would alternate between the Dizi and the Guqin.
When it was time for him to leave for Gusu as we only had one month left for the wedding, I was doing not only better mentally and physically and emotionally, but I still made time to practice. Wuxian and Wangji would come that month to help me practice. Wangji was just as kind and patient in helping me with the guqin. Wuxian on the other hand, he was patient on helping me learn, but he was good at goofing off every once in a while. Wangji had to sit with us to help keep him from messing around. I was actually thankful for that.
Now there were only two weeks before the wedding and I asked Wangji and Wuxian for a break as they needed to help A'Huan more with preparations. So now it was just Hua Cheng, Xie Lian, and me. Xie Lian, for those two weeks, started to teach me how to play the Guzheng which is similar to the Guqin but with extra stings. I named it Singing Lotus (Gē lián).
Singing Lotus (Gē lián)I took a liking to playing the Guzheng just as much as the Guqin. I found it a bit more elegant and feminine to okay the Guzheng but any gender could learn either. After practicing for a while, I spent time in my room for a while. I was anxious for the wedding. I haven't actually been around a lot of people since I was abducted by Jin Guangyao.
That was until I was told by Xie Lian that there was a celebration banquet at the Heavenly Palace. It was to celebrate my upcoming wedding. It was in a couple hours and he only just now told me.
I sighed and took a quick bath. I then dressed in white and blue hanfu to indicate that I was marrying into the Gusu Lan Sect. Lan Huan gave me one of his forehead ribbons so I tied it around my wrist as a way to know he was with me. Xie Lian told me to stick close to him if I was scared.
Honestly, I started to realize I was a lot more powerful then I thought. I was now starting to get smarter and making sure that my skin was always impenetrable by using my self defense techniques. No more sneak attack needles. Hua Cheng was there in his San Lang appearance so I stuck close to him. Many people came to know that I am Hua Cheng's sworn sister so they were careful not to do anything stupid with him near me. I felt safe knowing that I had him. He treated me like a Xiao Mei, and he has become so much more protective of me since my abduction.
I talked to a few people here and there and accepted drinks and toasts. I was fairly buzzed by the time I returned to Paradise Manor. I never drink alcohol, but the gods drink wine on special occasions and it is stronger than the wine of the cultivation world. I had a taste of Emperor's Smile but I didn't get as buzzed like this.
I changed into something more comfortable, just some simple white robes to sleep in, and left my hair down. I even shifted to my snake and coiled up in my bed. I made sure I would not get tangled in the blanket like A'Huan would. I think he liked seeing my snake pissed off in the morning by being stuck in a blanket. He may be immune to my venom but I fear I will accidentally snap at him once out of playful annoyance.
