Kaili has never been this depressed in her entire life. She has only been in confinement for five days. She had cried nonstop. As she was at least able to retract her fangs, she would bite her own arms to keep herself a little sane so she could feel something other then sadness and being numb. She even lost one of her sharp teeth as they tend to fall out and regrow all the time. The tooth, she shoved into her left thigh. The tooth stuck within her leg pinched and dug deeper any time she moved her leg. There was blood all over both of her arms.

As she was there alone, she started to drift off to sleep. Soon a loud bang came and it caused her to sit up straight and look at the door. Standing in the doorway was Hua Cheng.

"Hua Cheng?" She said in a weak voice, "how?"

"When Xie Lian told me what happened I managed to these gods some convincing. They messed with my little sister and that is not okay with me. Someone is taking to much abuse of their power and privileges. I am able to get you out of here. I was going to take you to Xichen but you need medical attention first," Hua Cheng said.

Kaili could only cry as he picked her up and took her to Paradise Manor. Xie Lian was actually kind enough to bring Xichen with him. During the time Kaili was away, Xie Lian helped Xichen ascend so he can be on the save level as her, being able to fight and protect her more. Xie Lian has been training him personally. More of his abilities will come once he and Kaili marry. They needed to finalize their soul-bond to make him officially a god. At the moment, Xichen was at least immortal.

Wangji took over as the sect leader temporarily so Xichen could be with her. Xichen was their for him what he was waiting for Wuxian and still balanced it out by tending to Kaili, until they had their misunderstanding. Still, Wangji would do anything for Xichen as he has been there for him all the time. He also had help from his uncle if he needed anything.

"Gege, she needs medical attention," Hua Cheng said meeting up with Xie Lian and Xichen.

"What happened?" Xie Lian asked.

"They look self-inflicted," Hua Cheng said, "if I wasn't married to you, I'd do blow up the palace again. I think she even lodged one of teeth into her thigh."

"What?" Xie Lian asked and carefully checked her leg, "this is bad."

"What can I do?" Xichen asked now completely worried.

Kaili was partially conscious and when she heard Xichen's voice her eyes opened and searched for him, "Lan Huan?" She asked quietly.

"I am here," Xichen said as Hua Cheng took her to a room and laid her down.

"We need to tend to her wounds, and stop the bleeding," Hua Cheng said.

After getting a tub of hot water, it was Xichen who cleaned her wounds and bandaged them. He even took the tooth that was in her leg out.

"You should keep that," she teased, "who knows when I'll loose another."

Xichen chuckled, "I will," he said and gently took her hand. He held it between both of his, "please do not ever do something like this again. Do not harm yourself like this."

"I am sorry, I was just so upset. I was being punished for what I felt like was for no reason. I couldn't even defend myself because they had already decided. For that time I was in there, I bit myself everyday because I just needed to feel something. It was also a way to count the days. I was so cold that my body was going numb. I was so tired, and hungry and thirsty...Lan Huan, did I really cause that mess? Why punish me?"

"I don't know sweetheart, Xie Lian and Hua Cheng are so angry and they are looking into it as we speak," Xichen told her.

"The sect?" She asked.

"Wangji is looking over it with Shufu while I am here with you," Xichen answered, "I have been here since the day after you were confined. Xie Lian helped me ascend. You now have an eternity and a day with me...after we marry of course."

Kaili giggled, "you still want me?" She asked.

"I do, you are mine," he said, "once a Lan falls in love, it is for life. True story."

"I should try to shift to my snake so she can shed that skin off, do you have water prepared for her?" She asked.

On cue, Xie Lian had actually prepared water for her. When she shifted, the skin was very well ready to come off. Xichen has to removed the bandages he just put in but she needed to soak. As she soaked, he carefully removed the skin from her eyes. Her tongue popped out, tasting and smelling the air around her. Kaili allowed Xichen to help removed the rest of the skin but it was also feeling nice. Her body itched and she needed to be pet. The contact by Xichen always felt nice no matter if her skin was sensitive or not. If it was anyone else, she would find it uncomfortable and unpleasant.

After the dead skin was removed, fresh water was poured into the tub and she soaked a bit longer. It helped clean her wounds and Xie Lian added some herbs to the water to help heal her. Kaili missed being a snake so much that she didn't want to shift back yet. So after drying, Xichen just held her and let her wrap around him. Her wounds were rewrapped, but she was content otherwise. The burn from Zidian has disappeared as the shedding helped heal her. Unfortunately her other wounds were recent so they won't heal so soon.

After a couple days, Xichen took Kaili back home to Cloud Recesses. Since then, Hua Cheng officially made her his sworn sister, which made her Xie Lian's sworn sister-in-law, and it made her feel happy and more protected. When they got back to Cloud Recesses, Wangji and Wuxian immediately wanted to see her. She turned to her human form to hide her bandages under her robes. Xichen didn't like that she did that but she said she would warn them to be careful.

"Glad that you are back, are the gods upset that you are out early?" Wuxian asked.

"Since Hua Cheng claimed me as in sworn sister, they didn't want to upset him more as he is known for blowing up palaces. They let me go and he and Xie Lian are looking into the real reason as to why I was punished in the first place. Xie Lian said I shouldn't have been punished," Kaili answered.

"That is true, you shouldn't have been punished, but we are glad you are back," Wuxian said, "have you always been this pale though?"

Kaili sighed and told him and Wangji her experience within those five days she was confined. Wuxian understood her pain but was glad she promised not to do such a thing again.
