Kaili woke the next morning still feeling the pain from the burn around her neck. It was actually more painful now then it was the day before when she actually received the burn. She was in so much pain that she started crying. She hasn't been in this much pain in a long time. Kaili carefully sat up and clawed at her throat. She looked around as she tried to find Xichen.

She began to panic as she was hurt and alone. She turned into a snake and enlarged herself. The burn was still painful but bearable as a snake. Out of anger she burst through the door and saw she was near the main hall. That was where the meeting was. Though she was large, she moved quick, she was in pain and she was angry, her mind was clouded over right now. Kaili moved quick and charged into the main hall where all the cultivators were. She hissed upon entering and this time, burns would not hurt her, she made sure her abilities were in full display.

"Kaili," San Lang said gaining her attention, "hey girl, try to calm down, you are not in any danger. Everything was dealt with after you left yesterday."

She was not listening. She hissed and lunged at San Lang. San Lang quickly dodged and saw Xichen trying to calm her down.

"Xichen, you need to be careful," San Lang said.

Xichen ignored his warning as he knew she would not hurt him, "Hey, sweetheart," He said calmly, "hey..look at me," Kaili turned to him and her clouded rage was starting to fade upon seeing him, "I am here and safe. You are here and safe. I didn't mean to leave you alone but you needed rest sweetheart."

Kaili towered over Xichen, her tail rattled and a hiss came of of the back of her throat. She lowered her head so she was super close to Xichen. Xichen started to pet her now that she was closer. Xichen's touch was calming and warm to her.

"I am in pain," she said to him, "it hurts way to much. I did not want to be alone. Please do not leave me alone."

"I know, I left the medicine on the nightstand near the bed for you, but I didn't expect you to come straight out to find me. I am so sorry," he said, "I promise I will be better and wake you next time. I just wanted you to rest."

Kaili could sense someone coming near her and she turned her head and hissed. It was Jiang Wanyin. He had Zidian to the ready as he looked like he was close to attacking her again. Kaili hissed at him loudly and towered over him. Kaili was keeping herself from biting this man for Wei Wuxian's sake. If not for him and his small connection to him, he would have been a dead man.

"Sect Leader Jiang, you touch her and I will not hesitate to let her bite you. Say goodbye to Lotus Pier and to your nephew!" Xichen said and tried to gain Kaili's attention again.

With that threat Jiang Wanyin backed off. This time Xie Lian, San Lang, Wangji, and Wuxian moved to guard her, circling around them. They were showing that she was very special. She meant no harm as long as you do not give her a reason to. Attacking her, or her loved ones was just suicidal at that point.

Even as a snake, she had tears slipping from her eyes. She needed Xichen more than anyone and this conference was not making it easy.

"Can you please go back to your normal size?" Xichen asked her calmly, "I want to tend to your wound."

Kaili shrunk down to her normal size and wrapped herself around Xichen. Her head was resting on his chest this time and she hide it within his robe. Xichen went to go sit and then started to pet her to comfort her. A disciple came and handed him fresh bandages, and the herbs so he could tend to her neck in the middle of the meeting. He didn't care who was watching.

Kaili coiled up in the table in front of him and lifted her head so Xichen could get to the burn on her neck. He then carefully put the herbs on her wound and wrapped it. When he was done, Kaili remains curled up in the table as she didn't want to move at the moment. Xichen kept his hand near her head and lightly pet her as the meeting resumed.

Wei Wuxian was brought up again and more proof came up that he was innocent and proved that Jin Guangyao was behind everything. It all actually started because Jin Guangshan pushed at him to get the amulet from Wei Wuxian so he can have it for himself. Since that was revealed, Jin Guangshan was removed as Chief Cultivator and the position was given to Nie Mingjue.

His first priority was to find Jin Guangyao and either kill him or catch him then kill him. They wanted answers though so Nie Mingjue did hope for him to be brought in alive for questioning. Nie Mingjue then let the meetings end and said they'd meet in Qinghe in a few weeks to discuss the progress on finding Jin Guangyao. He will also help decide the punishment for attacking and harming a deity.

Upon the meeting ending, Xichen immediately had Kaili wrap around him as he put his cloak on and flew back him to Cloud Recesses. The others followed of course. Lan Xichen entered the Hanshi and set Kaili down on his bed. He then got a tub of warm water and put some other herbs into the water they Kaili gave him. Kaili then relaxed in the warm tub of water for a while. The herb in the water was to help dry out her skin to force her to shed. It wasn't ideal but it will get rid of the burn and she would heal faster. She had to soak until the water went cold and then dry naturally. She was soon going to be grouchy as she was going to be sensitive to the touch again. Xichen made sure his bed was very comfortable for her and she just curled up and rested most of the time.

Xichen wished he could cheer her up but he knew it would take some time. They had a meeting with the oracle in a week so he hoped by then she would be somewhat back to her normal self. Xichen sat beside her on the bed and let her get comfortable with him by her. She moved around a bit until she was comfortable and her head was resting on his thigh.

She at least let him pet her. Xichen made sure he was calm and relaxed as it would help calm to Kaili. She could feel his aura and it actually helped calm her down as Xichen expected. Kaili ended up going into deep meditation instead of sleeping. Trying not to wake her, Xichen laid down to sleep. Kaili's head was now resting on his stomach as he was laying on his back. Meditation was helping Kaili heal but it was also helping the herbs she soaked it to work.
