Kaili stuck to Xichen like glue. Xichen didn't mind much though. He was by her side a lot and he often helped her get through episodes of panic attacks, nightmares, and night terror. Xichen placed privacy talismans on the walls of their room to keep noise from traveling out as she often woke screaming from nightmares. Kaili would not talk about what happened to her and Xichen would not ask. He told her that she can open up to him when she was ready. He told her that often too, which was enough as it let her know that he was there.

If Kaili was not near Xichen, she stuck to Hua Cheng. Hua Cheng was her sworn older brother and he was very protective of her. It was good that she was okay with Hua Cheng and Xie Lian as it was getting closer to her and Xichen's wedding. She was hoping by the time they had to be separated for those two months she would be okay but those hopes were low.

Xichen was able to also convince Kaili to shift to her snake form as she needed to shed. It was getting close to her shedding period and it would help her heal better too. So Kaili stuck to being a snake for a while. They had her anti-venom on hand in case she has an attack and accidentally bites someone. Hua Cheng and Xichen were the only two who were immune to her venom otherwise the others would be in serious trouble if they got bit.

Hua Cheng has everyone wear an anklet that had a bell on it to help prevent scaring Kaili. She didn't like when others snuck up on her or approached her a certain way. Though many just kept their distance and let Hua Cheng or Xichen handle her. At the moment she was all wrapped up around Xichen.

Xichen was sitting in their room and Kaili was tangled around him. Her little snake head resting on his chest. She felt a bit safer at the moment being in her snake form so she decided to stay this way for a while. As Kaili was resting on Xichen, she could feel him lightly petting her.

"Your eyes are starting to cloud over, are you wanting me to removed the skin?" Xichen asked her.

"Would you?" She asked kindly.

Xichen lightly brushed his fingers over her eyes and removed the dead skin from her eyes. It felt a lot better after that.

"Thank you," she said.

"You are welcome," he said, "do you want to soak for a while or are you wanting to wait a bit?"

"Will you be close by?" She asked.

"Of course," Xichen nodded, "I am not going anywhere."

Kaili agreed to soak in warm water for a while. It did feel nice as she did feel a bit cold. After her soak, Kaili easily shed her old skin and now had shiny fresh snake skin. Kaili might be sensitive to the touch but she stretched out on the bed beside Xichen and had her head on the closest leg to her. Kaili would eventually just slither fully on top of Xichen. Xichen found it cute in a way, but he worried as she was clinging onto him more and more as the days go by.

After a while, Kaili turned to her human form and was snuggled up to him. She suddenly just started to tell him everything. She told him that the day she disappeared she could sense someone bad nearby. She saw a puff of green smoke and then was knocked out with a needled. When she woke up she was chained up and hanging from a wall of a dark cell.

"The corpses of Su She, Xue Yang, and Jin Zixun were there. He made them and used them like servants. He told them that they were to keep beating me and burning me until I gave in. They even humiliated me by taking my clothes. They didn't touch me inappropriately but I felt so exposed and uncomfortable. I was so cold and humiliated and all I wanted was to hide away.

During a moment when they stopped torturing me, I gained focus enough to hypnotize them to stop and not to listen to any of Jin Guangyao's commands that involved harming me. Jin Guangyao then just took the pleasure of torturing me himself. He would put oil on a whip and light it on fire. I could feel the burning of it on my back but he didn't stop. I did not give in once. I could not.

I did not know what he wanted my venom for but I refused to give him any. I felt he'd just use it for more experiments. When be stabbed me with his sword...I provoked him to do so. I expected him to react to what I said but it was far more aggressive than expected. I called him a son of a whore and that his karma will come back to haunt him."

Once Kaili stopped talking, Xichen held her very close, as if she could disappear any second. He wished Jin Guangyao was alive so he could torture him the same way before killing him. Dying by her venom was a slower painful death but he wanted it more painful for harming her.

Hua Cheng and Xie Lian were not far from their room and actually heard it all. Hua Cheng had a butterfly near her in case she needed him for anything and to hear her finally talk about it, angered him. Hua Cheng had ways to torture a soul after their death. He searched for Jin Guangyao and made sure his soul suffered for a very long time.
