Lan Qiren, Lan Wangji, Wei Wuxian, and Lan Xichen were all ready to head to Lanling. Kaili was in her snake form and wrapped comfortably around Xichen. As they were to fly to Lanling, Xichen had a cloak on the help keep her warm during the flight. Kaili would occasionally pop her head and when she got a bit cold, she would hide within the cloak again.

Kaili even once snuck up and booped Xichen's nose with her snoot before hiding in the cloak again. Xichen would laugh at her playfulness and her being cute. He snuck his hand in his cloak and started to pet her for a bit. Kaili ended up falling asleep for some of the trip as she was so warm and comfortable.

When they landed at the Jin Sect, Xichen opened the cloak a bit and Kaili was now able to see everything. She hissed as first as it woke her from her sleep, and the light disturbed her. Xichen rubbed her head to comfort her for a moment before she calmed down. It was a bit warmer in Lanling despite them being near a large body of water. Those who saw the snake wrapped around Xichen kept their distance as they were a bit nervous about it.

Xichen removed his cloak and put it in a pouch before putting the pouch away. Kaili had he lower half wrapped around his torso, and she looped around the back of Xichen's neck. Her head was up a bit as she was eye level with Xichen's eyes. Kaili then rested her head on Xichen's shoulder as she felt no threats at the moment.

People were also shocked to see Wei Wuxian alive again. He had his sword strapped on his back and his flute at his waist. He was also holding Wangji's hand. They were in the main hall and went to their seats for the meeting. There was an extra table beside Wuxian and Wangji and Xie Lian and San Lang were sitting there.

Suddenly, Kaili let out a hissing noise. It took Xichen by surprise and was wondering what was wrong, until he saw a man in purple Yunmeng Jiang Sect robes standing before them. A deadly and angry aura came off the man. Also sorrow, pain, and grief, but there was so much anger that it overpowered all his other emotions. It was Jiang Cheng, Jiang Wanyin.

"The rumors are true, the infamous Wei Wuxian is alive and well," he said.

Wuxian sighed, "Hello Sect Leader Jiang," he said and bowed, "I do not wish to start trouble right now."

"That is a first," Jiang Wanyin said with a scoff. Kaili hissed louder and stood tall and Xichen's shoulder, "what the hell?"

"I would be careful Sect Leader Jiang," Xichen said, "this is Ye Kaili, she is my spiritual snake. She is very protective of me but also my family. As Wei Wuxian is engaged to my brother, she is protective of him too. At the moment you are coming off as a threat. Her venom can kill someone within twenty-four hours. Two hours before you are fully paralyzed and your organs shut down."

With Xichen's explanation, Jiang Wanyin took a could steps back, "you should learn to control that thing."

"Jiang Wanyin, this thing is not only a snake spirit but a deity. She tends to rule over me at times, so unfortunately, I will not. I am also glad she is protecting my family," Xichen explained.

A sudden sizzling sound was heard and Kaili saw the infamous Zidian. The purple whip that has been unleashed on Wei Wuxian far too much. Kaili used some of her energy and caused Zidian to sizzle out. Jiang Wanyin looked at his ring confused.

"Why did it stop working? My spiritual energy can't power it," Jiang Wanyin questioned.

"It is shaped like a snake, therefore I can manipulate it," Kaili told Xichen.

"She told me it is shaped like a snake and she can manipulate it like she can with other snakes," Xichen said, "I suggest you go sit and stop trying to cause trouble."

"Give me my power to Zidian back!" Jiang Wanyin yelled.

Kaili hissed very loudly this time as another warning as she was not going to tolerate his tone. She even spit at him, making him jump back. Jiang Wanyin huffed and went over to his seat. Kaili let out one more hiss as she settled down and rested her head on Xichen's shoulder. Xichen pet her on the head to comfort her.

"It's alright, he is gone," he said.

Wuxian giggled quietly and said in a low voice, "it's been a long time since I have seen him so scared out of his mind. Good job Kaili."

To Xichen's left Nie Mingjue and Nie Huaisang were seated. Huaisang was closest to Xichen so Kaili decided to have some fun. Kaili moved and unwrapped herself from behind Xichen's neck and sat on his other shoulder. She then started to extend her body and moved closer to Huaisang. He didn't notice right away either. Xichen and Wuxian were trying hard not to laugh as Kaili was now only a few inches from Huaisang.

Nie Mingjue noticed Kaili picking on his brother again but let it be. He was even amused, as always. San Lang who was sitting beside Xie Lian was just happy it wasn't him being her target for fun at the moment. Though he secretly liked the attention she gave him. She was like a little sister to him and loved her mischievous side.

When Kaili realize Huaisang wasn't going to notice her, she decided to make him notice. She let out a loud hiss and Huaisang screamed at the top of his lungs. There were a lot of people paying attention at the point and thought it was funny. They realized that the snake that was with Xichen was friendly towards certain people, even playful. Huaisang ended up jumping over to hide behind his brother who was just rawring with laughter.

"Kaili, why?" Huaisang asked, "I thought we were friends?"

"He looked bored and tired and needed a wake up call," Kaili said.

Xichen chuckled, "she said you looked like you needed a pick-me-up as you looked tired and bored."

"Is he ever going to pet me?" Kaili asked.

"Awe, Huaisang you made her sad," Xichen said, "she just wants you to pet her."

"Is this a trick?" He asked.

"No," Xichen said.

Huaisang sighed and slowly moved back to his seat. He then extended his hand and she let him pet her...for a moment and then she made him jump again by hissing. Kaili then moved back over to Xichen and rested her head on top of his head. Xichen laughed as she was just being outright playful at this point. She was lowering the guards of everyone in the room to look as if she couldn't hurt a fly. That was exactly what she wanted. Jiang Wanyin was not fooled though as he already experienced some of her wrath.

Kaili turned and extended back so she was very close to Wangji and Wuxian. The two pet her as they were happy to have her attention for a bit. Kaili then extended over to San Lang and hissed at him.

"Why are you hissing at me?" He asked.

"You know it's basically her thing with you," Xie Lian said.

San Lang sighed, "Kaili, can you be nice for one day."

She hissed and turned to rest in Xichen's shoulder again. It was almost time for the meeting to start and Jin Guangshan had just entered the hall. His eyes immediately landed on Wei Wuxian and he was so shocked to see the man alive. Wei Wuxian smirked as he knew this was going to be an interesting meeting.
