Kaili was summoned by the heavenly officials. As much as she wanted to remain a snake, she turned human for the meeting. Xie Lian was there to ask why they wanted to see her as she was already injured and a bit drained. Some of the officials were angry for causing a scene. She ended up getting hurt in the process and then she caused another scene because she wanted to be near her lover and spiritual companion.

The officials were displeased with those who disrespected her but because she caused a little scene and some people are angry, she had to be punished.

"She is already injured, and you want to punish?" Xie Lian asked angrily, "are you insane?"

"It is the law," they said, "but we will refrain from punishing volts. Her punishment will confinement for three months."

"Are you serious?" Xie Lian asked, "she has a meeting with an oracle coming up for her wedding date? Three months here are three years to her fiancé."

"Although as a crown prince you have a say, it is already been set by the emperor himself. We cannot change that. We are sorry but it has to be done."

Kaili nodded and didn't say a word. She didn't defend herself or anything. She just asked Xie Lian to tell Xichen that she was sorry and she won't be able to see him for a long time. This was her fate, and she had to take it. She didn't like it but she had to.

Kaili's abilities to shift to a snake was blocked the moment she was in her cell for confinement. It was enchanted to keep her abilities at bay. She was just a small four by four room and a blanket over straw on the floor. She sat there on the floor and balled up. Tears fell as she felt it to be unfair but she had to deal with it.

When Lan Xichen heard the news, he was angry, shocked, and sad. Xie Lian explained that it is three months for her but three years for him as time moves differently in the mortal and cultivation realm. Xichen had to ask what it would be like for her to be in confinement for that long.

"Inside is just a small four by four room and straw on the floor with a blanket on one side. As she is cold blooded she will definitely be cold quite often. She is also unable to shift into her snake form and from what I herd, she was forcing a shed to help heal her burn but now it has to wait. That could cause infections to her snake skin by the time she is free. She will be sick for sure. I will make sure I have everything ready for her and I will be able to send stuff occasionally. Also...they will only give her fluids to drink but no food as it will cause her abilities to dwindle. By the time she gets out, her energy will be very low. So it's a lot," Xie Lian answered honestly.

"Why are they doing this to her? The sects were the ones who caused the issue, not only that but she was also attacked and she was accused of causing a scene? Is someone purposely trying to keep her from being with me? Are we soulmates or are we just a misfortune couple?" Xichen asked.

"I looked into that personally, and you two are fated and destined soulmates. This was just her fate I guess but I will look further into this as I find this completely unacceptable as well. I will have to have a word with my father because this is wrong," Xie Lian said.

"Thank you for telling me," Xichen said.

"Just try to stay strong for her," Xie Lian said.

Xichen nodded and watched Xie Lian disappear. Lan Xichen sat down at his desk in shock as he couldn't believe what he heard. He had tears in his eyes and he had never heard such things in a long time. He has been around injustice but this was also the case.

Wangji and Wuxian stopped in to see how everything was going but upon entering they saw Xichen in tears, "Xiongzhang?" Wangji asked.

Xichen looked at Wangji and cleared his throat before wiping his eyes, "sorry, do you two need anything?" He asked.

"Did something happen?" Wuxian asked.

Xichen nodded, "Kaili had a meeting with the heaven officials. Xie Lian told me he tried to defend her but they already made up their minds. Though she was attacked, they blamed her for causing a scene twice and threatened harm to several cultivars, she was put in confinement for three months...but three months where she is, is actually three years to us as time moves differently....it's unfair!" He explained.

Wuxian and Wangji were shocked, "are they trying to keep you two apart?" Wuxian asked.

Xichen shook his head, "Xie Lian said he checked himself, she and I are fated and destined soulmates. We are meant to be together but for whatever reason, she is being treated unfairly. Xie Lian is looking into it personally as he feels something is wrong."

"What will happen to her in confinement?" Wangji asked concerned.

"The room is enchanted to keep her from using any abilities including shifting to her snake form. To heal her burn she used an herb to force a shedding but since she cannot shift, her snake now has risks of getting infections because she cannot shed the skin. The room is also small, a small four by four room, floor is covered with straw and a blanket for her to lay on. They are only giving her fluids as food will allow her to keep her energy up. Her energy will be completely drained by the time she gets out....it's very bad," Xichen explained.

Wuxian felt that she was as being treated way to unfair. He was angry and had to do something to help her. Wuxian said he was going to meet with Hua Cheng and Xie Lian at Paradise Manor. Wangji decided to stay with his brother to keep him company. Wuxian told Hua Cheng and Xie Lian that he wants to help free Kaili.
