When Jin Guangyao was under Wen Ruohan, he because his number one experimental torturer. Jin Guangyao was giving the opportunity to torture the prisoners under Wen Ruohan and has learned a lot from that experience. One of them was dipping a spiritual discipline whip in oil and lighting on fire. Kaili was still bound in her chains but with her facing the wall and her back to Jin Guangyao. Kaili knew what was going to happen, and she was just going to try to get through it.

"You know Kaili, if you just do what I want, you don't have to do through this pain," he said.

"The more I let you torture me, the less chances I have of producing good quality venom," she lied. Her venom will always be potent but if it helps in this situation she will take it.

Jin Guangyao let out a chuckle, "let us find out, shall we," he said and let the whip lash out on her back.

The first one hit, Kaili grunted. She bent her head down and bit down on her robes. Using some last bit of strength, she tore it and it was now a piece of cloth, she coiled the cloth with her teeth and tongue and then used it as something to bite on. Hit after hit; she didn't know what was worse, the hit from the whip or the burn from the fire. As there was oil on the whip, anytime it hit her back, some would transfer to her skin and the fire set a blaze on her back. The fire would burn off the oil leaving third and fourth degree burns on her back.

At one point she was just left in her bloody tunic and pants. Her robes were torn apart by all the beatings and whippings. Kaili feared that one of these men will do something else to her, something that she does not even want to consider thinking about. Eventually Jin Guangyao just decided to let her feel extra exposed by removing her tunic and trousers. She had never felt so humiliated in her entire life.

Kaili honestly didn't know how long she has been missing. There were no windows in her room so she couldn't see the day and night cycles. When she was left alone, it would be pitch black in the room. Kaili eventually passed out from the pain. She woke up not long after from a bucket or ice cold water poured over her head. That was after they turned her face to the front and facing the door again.

"You must be getting exhausted," Jin Guangyao said, "you've been going for ten days now. I have to say this is the longest anyone has ever lasted. So when you said I can't kill you, I am starting to believe it. That is fine, more fun for me."

Kaili was still not giving in, "I...am not...giving you...Shit!" She yelled, "You son...of a...whore!" That riled up Jin Guangyao. He suddenly pulled out his sword Hensheng and pierced her in the left shoulder with it. Kaili spit out some blood from her mouth and smirked, "I...pissed you off...didn't I?" She gritted out.

"You know nothing!" He said and removed his sword from her, "you will rot in here!"

He then stormed out of the cell slamming and locking the door behind him. Kaili suddenly had the opportunity to let out her soft cries. Her arms ached from her hanging from the wall in chains. Her body was covered in blood, injuries, bruises, and she was freezing cold. All she wanted was to be in her fiancé's arms again. She wanted to be home. She had to find a way out.

"Lan Huan?!" She cried, "where are you?"

Lan Xichen has been looking nonstop for Kaili. He didn't want to give up. There was no way that she could just disappear from the face of the earth. Because of the bond between them, he could tell that she was still alive but she was in pain. He asked Xie Lian if he could use the bond in some way to help find her but since they having dual cultivated to finalize it, it will be hard to pinpoint.

Lan Huan?! He suddenly heard in his head, where are you?!

Kaili? He tried to reach out.

Kaili's eyes widened, Lan Huan, I do not know where I am, but it is Jin Guangyao. He has me. I am locked in a dark cell...he is torturing me Huan... He hasn't forced himself on me but he has been humiliating me by keeping me naked. If you can hear me, please find me!

Lan Xichen was panicking and basically ran to Wuxian and Wangji's Jingshi. They were back in Gusu so he was breaking his own rules.

"Wangji!" He called.

Wangji opened the door to the Jingshi and saw his brother in a disheveled state. It was something so strange as he was never like this, "what happened?" He asked.

"I can still reach her, it's a mind link. She reached out...she said she doesn't know where she is because she is in a dark cell. Jin Guangyao has her. He is torturing and humiliating her, Wangji...what do I do?" Lan Xichen was the older of the two and he was begging his little brother for advice.

Wei Wuxian heard the everything and teleported to tell Hua Cheng. Hua Cheng returned with him and said that he might be able to find her. As a spiritual companion, he could still find her if that link was still there. They never broke it once they connected again after that one misunderstanding. Hua Cheng taught him how to find her through that like. It's similar to a soul-bond link but it might be hard to be accurate in pin pointing exactly where. If they had a general location, it would be enough.

They gathered forces and followed Xichen. He ended up leading them to Qishan's Scorching Sun Palace. The Wen Sect's old sect location. There were several hundred corpses just standing in front of the palace keeping others from entering. Corpses Jin Zixun and Xue Yang were up front.

"Yin Hu Fu?" Wuxian questioned, "he has his own? I remember destroying mine."

"A'Xian, as the Yin and Yang master, you can take control and get rid of them all," Hua Cheng said, "I could do it but you should have the honors."

Wuxian smiled and took out his Chenqing. He looked at Wangji who nodded at him. Wuxian jumped in a nearby pillar and Wangji became his protector. Wuxian began to play his eerie tune, calling all the corpses to heed his call and turn against their maker, Jin Guangyao. They all suddenly started to make their way up to the palace.

Jin Guangyao saw that his control was taken and tried to take it back. He then ran to grab Kaili and teleported out of Nightless City. He left them and not even leaving a trace of not knowing where they would go. That was fine because Xichen had a way to find her. Lan Xichen, Wangji, Wuxian, Xie Lian, and Hua Cheng all decided it was just going to be them and let everyone else go. This was their fight and it was now extremely personal as they have their best girl.
