Kaili was in her human form and it was the following day. She was sitting on a pillow beside the window of the Hanshi getting some fresh air. Kaili was pretty quiet that day. She had killed a good amount of people in her life but being a thirty-thousand year old snake, and for whatever the reason for the death, it never gets easer. As someone who can feel other's emotions and sense their auras, she can feel the person's suffering.

Su She and Xue Yang were criminals, and they were to die anyway, but when you can feel their pain and suffering, it makes it difficult. It takes several days for Kaili to recover from it all. She gets panick attacks at times or breaks down in tears. As word got to Xie Lian and San Lang about it from Wuxian, they sent a quick letter to Xichen to help keep an eye on her, as she needs all the support she could get right now.

Xichen went from his desk to Kaili and saw she was not doing okay. Xichen carefully picked her up and carried her to the bed and sat down with her on his lap. He held her close to comfort her. Kaili wrapped her arms around him and shoved her face into his chest. All she could do was cry. She didn't feel bad for the two criminals, but she cannot stand that she has to feel someone else's suffering.

"I hate feeling this way," she said quietly. Her face still in Xichen's chest and her hands were in either side of her head in his chest as well.

"I know," he said, "it will be okay, if you need to talk, I am here."

"Thank you," she said, "I have been around for so long, and it always feels similar. As I was asking those questions yesterday, I could feel his pain, and his discomfort. I know it was for the better but I also do not really like killing if I can help it. I hardly bite people either. They were actually numbers three and four. So I have bitten four people in total in my life, and I am thirty-thousand years old."

"Have you killed others aside from your venom?" He asked.

"I choked and crushed people to death yes, and I have a sword but I usually have to look away because when I do not see their faces, I cannot feel their pain," she replied.

"We will be careful next time, okay," he said.

She nodded, "normally I am a snake but I should be human more often, this is nice."

Xichen smiled, "I like holding you either way. Holding you like this is just as nice as when I am holding you as a snake...well, as a snake I feel like you are holding me, but I think you get it," he said with a laugh.

Kaili giggled, "I do, and I like wrapping around you. Your body is warm," she said, "soon though, as it is spring, the sun will be nice for me."

"Have you been wanting to go outside? Or is it still a bit cold for you?" He asked.

"I can go outside with this temperature," she said, "I just don't want to move at the moment. I am quite comfortable."

Xichen lifted her head by her chin so she was looking at him, "I am always here for you. Within the best of my abilities anyway," he said.

She smiled and reached up, placing her hand on the back of his neck. She then pulled him down to kiss her. This kiss was not as innocent as the last one. It was more passionate and opened. Kaili let her mouth open a little to let Xichen's tongue to venture inside. Xichen could feel how sharp her teeth were just by lightly glossing his tongue across them. Kaili melted into him as the warm he gave her felt really nice. She always felt warm with him. Xichen didn't want to get too carried away. They were engaged but they have yet to meet the oracle in town to discuss their auspicious date for the wedding. They have a meeting scheduled a week after they return from Lanling. Which they were leaving for soon.

Kaili pulled away as that thought came to mind, "what if something happens at Lanling?" She asked, "are you worried?"

"A little bit, but it up grew to be as large as you did yesterday, I think we will be fine," he said.

"I can get bigger you know," she said, "I can be so large I can circle around Cloud Recesses and still see my tail."

"Okay, maybe not that big but the option is there," he said.

"I will have to show you someday," she said.

"Not today though, I don't know if I can handle seeing you that big yet," he said.

She giggled and shifted to her snake form. She was her normal ten feet size, and her scales were a glistening white. Her lavender eyes were glittering with life. She slithered close to Xichen's face and nuzzled her nose to his.

Xichen chuckled, "You are cute as it is, must you act cuter?" He asked.

She was standing up tall and let her forked tongue stick out for a second before going back in her mouth. She then rested on Xichen again. Her head started to burrow into his robes. Xichen started laughing as she was being mischievous again. She slithered through his robes until her head popped out at the bottom. She lifted her head and looked back at Xichen. Kaili then moved beside him and slithered back up the bed and rested her head on the pillow. She hissed but it was out of comfort.

Xichen leaned down and placed a kiss on top of her little head, "you are the best person I have ever met. The best snake, best girl, best everything. You are amazing. The things you go through are part of your life and I am here now to help you through it," he said to her softly, "I promise you, I am here for you as you are here for me."

Kaili turned her head and nuzzled close to him. She gathered his warmth and just enjoyed his company as he comforted her.
