While A'Yuan was in his classes the next day, Kaili teleported to Paradise Manor to meet with Wei Wuxian again. Everyone could automatically tell something about Kaili was off. When she entered the manor, Xie Lian greeted her.

"Hello kiddo," he said.

"Hi," she replied, "I can only stay for a couple hours as some things have changed but I am here to see how everything is going."

"Come sit with San Lang, Wuxian, and I and we can talk," Xie Lian said.

Kaili nodded and followed him. Xie Lian noticed that she wasn't as happy as she used to be, she was more mellow, as if her heart was half empty. He knew something had happened and it wasn't good.

"San Lang, A'Xian, look who stopped by," Xie Lian said.

"Kaili," San Lang greeted but immediately sensed her pain, "something happened?"

Kaili let out a sigh and swallowed back some of her tears, "I am no longer Xichen's spirit snake."

"What?" San Lang asked, "what happened?"

"We just need time apart. It seems his trust in me has been broken a little ever since the incident with Jin Guangyao," she replied, "when I broke the bond, he had no reaction to it. He has no interest in me being around him anymore. That is how unfazed he was."

"Where are you staying now?" Wuxian asked.

Kaili smiled a bit, "though I am not Xichen's spiritual snake anymore, I become someone else's who might need me more than Xichen right now. I am free because they are in class."

"Who are you with now?" San Lang asked.

"A'Yuan," Kaili replied, "he likes my company so I gave him a ring where I live inside. I am connected to him so I know if he is ever in trouble, I can be there in a flash."

"Will you go back to Xichen someday?" Xie Lian asked.

"I do not know," she replied, "I do not know what to do. It hurts, A'Lian. Why does it hurt so much?"

"Not only did you connect with Xichen but perhaps he is your soulmate and you were slowly building that bond. With the misunderstanding, it would make sense for you to feel hurt," San Lang said, "give him some time, he will come around."

"I really do not know, he begged me at first not to break the connection but we both knew we needed some space. Did I do the right thing?" Kaili asked, "why would he have no reaction?"

"I am not sure, Kaili," Xie Lian said, "like San Lang said, give him some time to think. For now, focus your time on A'Yuan."

Kaili nodded, "I also hid in the ring because I didn't want to be in the way when Wei Wuxian returned."

"Why would you be in the way?" Wuxian asked.

"A'Yuan lives with Wangji," Kaili pointed out, "Wangji had a room added on to his house just for A'Yuan."

"Don't you dare even think about taking a peak at my Lan Zhan," Wuxian warned.

"I am not interested," she said, "plus I already snuck a peak at Xichen. I have to say, he was hot."

"Oh you have got it bad," Wuxian said.

"What do you mean?" Kaili asked.

"The reason your heart hurts at the moment, you like Xichen, but more than you ever thought you would," Wuxian replied.

Kaili nodded and sat down on the chair near her, "I guess, but I don't know anything about that kind of thing."

"Kaili, you are in the human realm to experience these kind of hardships. It's something every god has to go through. The emotions you pick up are painful but they define you as your own person as well. You are learning just what you want and need, and you are learning what you like and dislike," Xie Lian told her.

"Oh," she said.

Kaili?

She heard A'Yuan calling for her, "I have to go. A'Yuan is calling for me."

"Take care of yourself, okay," San Lang said.

"I will," Kaili replied and teleports to the Jingshi as a snake. She ended up in A'Yuan's room, "Hi Kiddo, how was your classes?"

"They were a bit boring but I made it through them," he said, "I am glad you are here. A'Die isn't back yet."

"Do you know where he went?" Kaili asked.

"No, he just said he had some things to do and might not be here when I get home," A'Yuan said.

"Well, I am here with you, do you have any school assignments to do?" She asked.

"No, but can I sit by you and you can wrap around me?" He asked, "it feels like a hug to me. I like them."

Kaili agreed and coiled around him carefully and not too tightly. She then rested her head on his shoulder. A'Yuan was pretty snug there on his bed now. Being curled up with Kaili around him made him feel safe and secure. Being just a little kid, Kaili was happy to be beside him. She knows that maybe one day she can work things out with Xichen but it will have to wait.

A'Yuan ended up falling asleep so Kaili just let him be. She didn't mind watching the little boy sleep. This little boy, despite being through such hardships, was still happy and cheerful. Kaili could tell that he was a special kid. Kaili moved her head closer to his face and felt comfortable herself. She ended up napping too.

She woke up when she heard the door to the Jingshi open. She was alert at first but saw that it was only Wangji. Kaili just went back to being cozy and comfortable being snuggled up close with A'Yuan. Wangji was a little surprised to see A'Yuan wrapped up by a snake but he trusted Kaili. Kaili was a deity and was very truthful of her actions and words. When she said she would protect this boy, she would.
