Alice's POV
Looking back at the letter I just got I realized that I've actually never been to the kingdom in question. Great, I thought to myself, yet another long ass trip. The place I'm supposed to be able to find that dick at was some kind of temple in the middle of the Adviras kingdom to the south. Since I've never been there and I don't exactly know anyone who has I can't just use spacial magic to get there.Deciding not to dwell on it I decided to use spacial magic to at least get as close as I possibly could, the small village of Clovest. Stepping out of seemingly nowhere just outside of the village I headed for the closest person I could see to ask for directions.
"Excuse me sir, could you possibly tell me the direction to the Adviras kingdom?"
"Certainly lass, it's due south of here. It should be about a months journey by foot assuming you don't run into any trouble along the way."
"Trouble? Is there usually some kind of trouble between here and there?"
"Well, besides the usual chance of bandits popping up like there is anywhere, I heard that some pretty high level monsters have been recently appearing on the road to Adviras. Of course it's just hearsay but it'll probably be best to remain cautious anyway."
"Fair enough, thank you for your time, I hope you have a pleasant rest of your day."
Without waiting for any kind of response I turned away and started walking down the road. I wanted to get going as fast as possible. Not only was I in a rush to finally get a hold of that slimy priest but I didn't want to give that villager the time to ask why a girl my age was traveling that far alone. Granted there wasn't a single doubt that I could more then handle myself, it got pretty annoying being questioned all the time since nobody would believe it.
As soon as the village was no longer in sight I used wind magic to not only lift myself in the air about fifty feet but to also propel me forward. It was basically a way to fly. With how easy it is to do this using simple wind magic it honestly amazed me that nobody has thought to do it. But like most things I can do whenever anyone saw me doing it they would freak out saying it's impossible and never leave me alone. And that's if they didn't immediately report me to the higher ups.
Using this kind of wind magic doesn't really require that much mana so I could keep it up for a pretty long time. At least a few hours or so. It would also make me soar across the sky pretty damn quick. I'd say that should more then cut the trip in half.
About three hours later I was still following the road from above as it cut through a thick forest. The view from up here was absolutely amazing. It never failed to take my breath away.
When I realized I was starting to run slightly low on mana I looked to make sure there was nobody around then brought myself back to the ground and started walking. As I continued down the path I started to get the feeling like I was being watched. Using sensory magic I checked to see if I could find what it was but was disappointed. There was some pretty high leveled monsters in the forest around me but none of them were close. Thinking about it left me uneasy, I still feel like somethings watching me yet I couldn't sense anything close by.
Not to brag but I know for a fact my sensory magic is pretty damn strong so if it was something I couldn't sense then it was either somehow higher leveled then me or at least was extremely damn good at hiding it's presence. Neither option was good for me. Thankfully my mana recharges at an insanely fast rate so it shouldn't be too long before I'm good to start 'flying' again.
About an hour later I still felt like I was being watched but since nothing had happened yet I figured I'd be ok to just ignore it for now. With that thought I decided to stop and camp out for the night. I'm tired. Turning and walking into the forest a little bit as to avoid anyone coming across me while I was sleeping I stopped to set up camp. Using spacial magic to pull out my tent and whatnot I got to work setting it all up.
Right as I had finished setting up and gathering wood for a fire to cook on I heard a low growl behind me. Standing up slowly since I had no idea what was behind me I turned to see what it was. As soon as I did I froze. Standing not more then ten feet away was a huge black wolf the size of a jeep. It had dark brown eyes and sharp teeth about as long as a pencil. Slightly crouched and still growling. Trying to think about all the monsters I've studied or heard of it suddenly clicked. This wasn't a wolf but a hell of a lot worse. This was a Fenrir and a damn strong one at that.
"Well, fuck..."
