Alice's POV
"I saved you three for last for a reason. Your group is a rather, well, unique one."
After pausing to seemingly contemplate his next choice of words.
"If you would please follow me, let's talk somewhere a bit more secluded."
What now... Why can't I be able to do something normal for once. It's pretty obvious that yet again I'm getting dragged into doing something bothersome.
We ended up follow Commander Vicebrook over to a side door at the back of the arena. When he opened it and walked through I could see a shimmer in the air in the doorway. After analyzing the flow of mana around the door I realized that it was actually multiple complex barriers all weaved together.
And when the last of us had went through and closed the door, the different barriers interlocked effectively completing the lock. By the looks of it, we appear to be in some sort of meeting room. All there was in here, other then the magic crystals lighting up the walls, was a long wooden table with multiple chairs all around it.
"If you would take a seat, we can get to it."After a bit of shuffling around and whatnot, we all had found a seat. The funny part was that we were all separated by at least five or six seats in-between.
"I'm going to get straight to the point. Zayne, Larain, Alice, your group is one that nobody outside of this room has the classification or authority to know about. As far as anyone else is concerned, your group does not exist.
"Any type of leaked information about anything will be treated as a capital offense.... in your own kingdoms. Those are the words of your respective leaders. I was told damned near everything that your kingdoms knew about you."
So in other words, they have all been working closely together for quite a long while. But what does mentioning all that do? What the fuck have I gotten myself into this time..
"All three of you are SS rank or above and all three of you were asked for specifically, but you guys couldn't be any more different if you tried. But the reason I brought you together despite the differences is because of the things you do have in common.
"You three are the biggest power houses on the continent of Nefria, unmatched in your own personal fields of experience, each of you are capable of both Arch class and Divine class magic.
"But the biggest thing you three have in common is the thing that matters most right now, is your proficiency to kill, your ability to work in the shadows and your ableness to do what needs to be done no matter how dark it may be."
Ohhh.. I think I see where this is going. Maybe I won't be so bored after all. But that's only if these people know what they're actually getting into. I don't really know what the hell the foxkin's deal is and I don't exactly care to know her story either.
As for the elf, I can only guess by what I can see. Looking at his armor I could tell that he was some kind of subclass of either a paladin or a druid, very light weight yet extremely durable. His choice of weapon seems to be some kind of enchanted bow, so I'd lean more towards a druid of sorts.
But Vicebrook was right, both of them have taken their fair share of lives. I could see it in their eyes. Guess it takes one to know one or whatever.
"So what is it that you want from us?". I asked already bored and getting impatient.
"What nobody else has the balls to ask for, assassins... That is all that I am willing to say until I know where you each stand. If you are to accept, although being technically 'nonexistent', your group has been given the alias, Nightshade.."
'You have got to be fucking kidding me....'
