"For these particular assignments, I'm confident that each of you are capable of handling most things by yourselves. Besides, I'm not sure the world can handle even two of you actually working together, much less all three of you."

As he's saying while pulling out a stack of folders from his spacial storage. Usually I would say that people are either kissing ass or wanting something when they say something like that. Playing on someone's ego so to speak.

Strangely though, you could tell he actually believed what he was saying. Maybe he does know quite a bit about us.

"And as it happens to be, with everything going on right now plus the information we got after you guys got here, there's quite a lot that needs done as quickly as possible.

"With that said, I'm going to give you each a couple assignments at a time. We've already waisted way too much time with talking and everything as is, so I'm not going to explain anything as these folders should include everything you need to know."

There it is, I knew everything was too good to be true... Multiple assignments at once huh? It's not that I'm incapable of handling it all, but for a lazy and unmotivated person like me, this sucked...

       'Oh fucking well I guess...'

"With that, you should all be set. I still have a lot of things I need to do myself, so I'll be taking my leave."

As he said that he handed us each a couple folders and walked out. Not so much as saying a single word to each other, we each headed in a different direction.

Zayne claimed a desk in a corner of the room and started looking through his assignments. Lara followed Commander Vicebrook out the door, most likely to go pick a room before we could. She seems like the type that actually worries about that.

I decided to go find a desk as well, Zayne seemed pretty quiet and doesn't really seem like a people person so it shouldn't be too bothersome to do my own work here as well.

I ended choosing a desk that was also in a corner of the room, just opposite of Zayne desk. It seemed like the spot furthest from both Zayne and the door. What can I say, I'm not a people person either.

Throwing down the folders on the desk and taking a seat, I flipped open the first folder. Inside the first thing I saw was a page with a single sentence on it.

Do not forget that you swore not to release any information to anyone except for me, no matter how high in command they may be.

               Commander Vicebrook

I kinda figured. In other words we are Vicebrook's personal team. Fuck it, I'll play this game as long as I am able to end this war quickly and go back home to Rose.

Turning the page I saw this:

    Assignment details:

We have successfully captured and interrogated a lesser demon scout. Just as we feared, one of the reasons the demons have gotten so far ahead of us is due to the help of humans. However, we only managed to get the location of one of the human traitors. You are tasked with finding the traitor and get as much information from him as possible. Use whatever means necessary.

     Target Identity: Baron Jerrad Olterio

Target Location: The city of Lumet in the Kingdom of Benai

Notes: Lumet is a very big city but the Baron is naturally a very paranoid person. Sources say that security there is pretty tight. Do what you need to do but as silently as possible. Remember, to the outside world, you don't exist.

The next page had a photo of the target as well as a map of Lumet. They even marked where on the map the targets house was. Very thorough yet straight forward.

The Kingdom of Benai huh? Not sure if I've been there before or not. Damn, looks like I won't be teleporting straight there. Thankfully there was actually a map of the human continent on one of the walls.

Walking over to it I located Benai and backtracked towards our location to get a sense of where I needed to go. Thank the gods I don't have to walk the entire way, I noticed that there was a town that I've been to before. It was a town called Antora and was located somewhere around halfway from here to Benai.

'Well, best go get myself ready for the trip. Time to check out the armory!!'

This I was actually excited about. I wonder what kind of toys they have? Walking out the office room and down the hall to where Vicebrook had said was the armory, my jaw hit the ground as I opened the door.

There wasn't anything in here!! The only thing in sight was a small magic circle in the very center of the wall opposite the door. Getting closer I saw that it was a lock type magic circle. So doing the only thing I could think of I raised my arm and brought my wrist up to it.

Both the magic circle and the tattoo on my wrist lit up purple. Then suddenly the walls around me started to shake ever so slightly before sliding into the floor. In their place stood racks and stands full of weapons, armor, magic tools and other equipment.

Every bit of equipment here had at least one buff or another that enhanced either assassin or rogue type magics and skills. There were also various types of buffs and enhancements on them as well but those were the most consistent.

I walked over and grabbed a couple of belts/straps that were full of multiple styles of throwing knives. I wrapped one around my waist as well as one around my thigh. Right as I looked up from doing the adjustments the strap around my thigh something I'm front of me suddenly caught my attention.

Walking over to a small case with a very detailed design, I opened it to find a badass looking choker with amethyst studs all around it. The label on the stand the case was on said: Choker of the Black Mist

Yeah, I'm claiming this. I'm not even sure what it does or anything yet, I simply want it. Not only is it a choker but it's black and purple and it has my favorite jewel inlaid all around it. It was meant to be in my eyes.

As soon as I picked it up I unclasped it and put it around my neck. The second it touched my skin I could somehow feel what I had to do to activate it. Circulating my mana and willing some of it to flow into the choker I felt a weird sensation.

Walking over to look at my reflection on one of the silver shields, I saw a strange black mist emanating from the choker. Then once I had fed it enough mana the mist first started to spread down and over my body. After spreading onto every part of me from the neck down it suddenly thinned out and disappeared, leaving a story black and purple mithril armor in its place.

The fact that it was made out of mithril aside, I could somehow tell that this armor was extremely durable. And to top it off it was so light I could barely tell I was wearing it. Then suddenly I felt that same weird sensation as black mist started spreading from the choker up my neck and covering the rest of my head, once again leaving behind armor.

It was a faceless helmet with strange yet elegant designs all over the sides of it. I couldn't feel it on my head at all but the craziest thing was that I couldn't see it either unless I was looking in a reflection. It didn't hinder my range of sight whatsoever.

Still messing around with the choker, I willed my mana into it again. After doing so the armor and helmet both turned back into black mist and started being absorbed by the choker. It ended up just looking the exact same as it had before.

'Instant magic armour, this is badass...'
