Dark Reincarnation: Nightshade

Chapter 53

                      Alice's POV

            "Okay, everybody ready? Do you two have everything?"

    Im currently in the middle of making sure the girls are ready, today they officially start at Fresia Magic Institute. We received word that they both passed the exams with flying colors.

    I had already taken care of the entry fees awhile ago so the only thing left to do is get them there on time.

              "Yep mom, we're ready to go." Rose said as she walked out the door holding her bags. Cicilia came out right behind her.

      After grabbing their hands and making sure their eyes were closed, I teleported us back in front of the academy gates. There were a couple lines of people with their kids who would also be attending the institute this year.

     Thankfully this is an academy for magic so not many people were actually startled by us appearing out of nowhere. Stupidly enough though, I'm not able to stand and wait with the girls, since I received word last night that I have to rush back to the king.

      I was kind of expecting it however, that's the main reason I spent the last week taking the girls to have fun. So after leaving the girls in the care of the guards and saying our goodbyes, I teleported back home first. I wanted to shower and whatnot before I went to the king.

       About three hours later I was walking into the throne room. As I entered I could see at least two dozen elite knights in full armor, the kings retainers and a few nobles, a fox beastkin I didn't recognize and of course the king.

     Ignoring the stares from everyone, I simply walked right up to the King himself and stood there waiting for him to notice me. It wasn't long before he did.

               "Ah, Alice. Good, you're finally here. We get get things started. I'd like you to meet Larain Kindly, one of our very own SS rank adventurers." He said while gesturing to the foxkin. "She's the one that I will be sending with you to assist the humans."

    Me and the foxkin simply nodded at each other in response. From first glance she doesn't seem all that special. Long red hair with ears and tail to match, green eyes, slightly curvy, flat chested, maybe four foot five, altogether average in my opinion.

    But looking closer you could almost physically see the intense aura she has as well as the abundance of mana she puts off. I guess she isn't SS rank for nothing right.

     But either way, wether she's strong or not, it doesn't mean shit to me. I refuse to work with anyone. After what happened with Lily, I'll be damned if I have another partner. If the king don't like it then he can fuck off for all I care.

            "Where am I supposed to be going exactly?"

                   "I am supposed to be sending you all to an outpost just outside of the kingdom of Enfrite. I am told that they are the first defense against the demons. You are to rally there and meet up with Sir William, the current king of Enfrite.

     "To put it frankly, although it is the first line of defense and you all will be the first to see battle, I personally chose that to be where to send you. Sir William and I have known each other for awhile now, he's one of the few humans I actually trust. With the help of our archmages, we are going to use a mass teleportation spell to send you there."

    Yeah, that all sounds about normal. Cliche as fuck too. I'll admit, their means of getting there is pretty impressive. Mass teleportation spells require a lot of mana. Even for archmages it's very uncommon for them to be able to pull it off, even with a few of them working together.

                "Actually, I'll just teleport myself there thanks." I said while turning and walking away. I just asked where I'm supposed to go, didn't need all the extra bullshit. I'm clearly not in the best of moods.

           "Wait, teleport yourself?" The foxkin behind me said with surprise evident in her voice. "Are you serious? I thought she was a warrior not an archmage."

                     "Technically, nowadays I would be considered more of a rogue," I looked back and told her with a smile on my face. "Just a rogue with some tricks."

  With a mocking smile still on my face, I disappeared before she could say anything.
