Alice's POV
"Fuck, fuck, fuck.... Is it still chasing us?" Jace asked as we ran as fast as we possibly could. We ran down corridor after corridor, turn corner after corner and yet we couldn't seem to lose whatever the hell was chasing us.
Another crazy snarl and the sound of it getting closer was all the answer he needed.
"We're not getting anywhere like this. We need to think of something fast." I said while running. "Sky, you have the map to the dungeon still right?"
"Yeah, it's right here. But we don't really know how reliable it is..."
"Well we're going to have to hope it's at least somewhat right. Start looking ahead of us on the map and see if there's any doors right after a corner. We need to try and give this thing the slip or it's gonna catch us soon..."
"Found one! Two more right turns then a left, directly after there is a door on left as well. We just have to make it there and hope it's not locked."
Hearing that seemed to give us all a little inspiration and we pressed on slightly faster then before. After we took the next two rights Jace suddenly used major boost or enhancement spell and shot past both me and Sky.
"I don't think I'm going to take any chances on wether it's licked or not. I'm going to use my momentum to get through that door. As soon as you two make it through behind me stop and close it." He said starting to actually glow just as we were reaching the corner.
"Jace no... We don't know what's on the other side of that door. Going that fast and plowing through the door you won't be able to stop right away..."
"It doesn't matter, just get ready to close it!!!"
As me and Sky rounded the corner all we saw was Jace taking a sharp left, run straight at a door then all that could be seen was a massive cloud of dust after he hit. Quickly turning and following him in we shot inside and immediately turned to shut the door.
What was that? I thought. As I was turning I barely caught a glimpse of something red and glowing. The next second I was facing the other way trying to hold the door closed as Sky tried to lock a bar in place to block it.
After she managed to lock the bar in place we both just stood there staring at the door and listening to it's footsteps go by. We were barely breathing as we waited to see if that thing would find us or not. After what seemed like forever we heard it's footsteps start to fade away as it got further and further.
I let out a huge sigh of relief as soon as it was gone. Bending down with my hands on my knees trying to catch my breath.
"Holy shit, we actually did it Sky, we managed to give it the slip!!.. Sky?..."
Looking over from her lack of response I realized she wasn't paying attention to me at all. Instead she was looking somewhere behind me with absolute horror written on her face.
"Sky, wha-..." Turning to see what she was looking at I froze...
"Jace...." I now knew what it was a caught a glimpse of earlier. It was Jace. Still slightly glowing from his enhancement spell and covered in so much blood it was hard to tell who it was at first, Jace was stuck to a small section of wall that had some kind of massive metal spikes coming out of it.
"Jace... Jace can you hear me?" I barely managed to get out as I stepped closer to my friend. "You're not dead right? You're still alive, because you promised right? Jace?..." I said as tears were running down my cheeks. After getting close enough to be able to see that the light had left his eyes and the glow from his spell faded I just dropped. I just hit my knees and couldn't do anything but stare.
"Because... you promised...right?.."
