                  Beast King's POV

"Any word from our champion about the hydra?" I asked one of my subordinates after sitting on my throne. I had sent Alice to subjugate a wild hydra that was randomly attacking villages.

I'm well aware of how strong and dangerous hydras can be, but I had complete faith that she could handle it. There's probably more power in that little lady's finger then that hydra has all together.

It's actually a frightening thing to think about. I'm just glad I was able to persuade her to work with us instead of against us. Really I have her wonderful daughter to thank. If it wasn't for her, Alice never would have agreed to our deal.

"Unfortunately sire, we have yet to hear back from Ms. Alice in regards to the situation."

"Hmm.. very well, send a carrier hawk to inquire about her progress."

           "No need, I'm right here."

Striding through the doors with her head held high, Alice approached the throne. With a quick bow she then pulled something out of her cloak and tossed it on the floor at my feet.

After a quick glance I saw that it was a pretty large hydra core, still dripping with the hydras blood. I then let out a hearty laugh.

"Well done Alice, as usual you have came back victorious. What would you like for compensation this time?"

"Just the usual will be fine."

"Very well, you there, go and collect this woman's pay."

                  "Right away sire."

There was an awkward silence for a bit while we waited for my subordinate to return with her coin. Deciding to try and change the awkward atmosphere, I tried to think of something that could be said.

"Actually there is something I want to ask about." Alice said, beating me to the punch.

                    "By all means, ask away."

"It's about my daughter Rose, I wish to know I you happen to have any magical academies in this kingdom. As well as what they are like. But let me first state this, she will NOT be attending any that are controlled by either the military or the government itself."

"And may I ask, why not?"

"Simply because I do not and will not trust them. That is all I'm willing to say."

How odd. There's obviously a story behind that statement. But instinct is telling me that I should not try to pry on the matter any further.

"There is, in fact, one such academy that would fit your criteria. It is called the Fresia Magic Institute and it isn't too far from your place of residence actually."

                   "And the qualifications to attend?"

"As long as your daughter has the magical aptitude and the determination, I can request she be exempt from the entrance fee."

"No, it'll be fine. I have more then enough to pay it. I simply wanted the information."

Just then the one I sent to grab her pay had finally returned. Handing her her coin, he bowed and backed away, returning to his spot on the side of the room.

"With this I'll take my leave. I'll be waiting for you to inform me of the next job. Good day my king."

She then bowed, turned on her heel and strode out.

           'I'll never understand that woman...'
