-----------Time skip: 1 year-----------

                       Alice's POV

I've officially been working for the Beast King for a year now. I've mainly been doing subjugation requests, taking down high leveled monsters that would terrorize different areas or attack the towns.

Sadly I have to admit it, I actually enjoy doing this kind of thing. Going around and getting to fight against monsters and beasts that can somewhat hold there own against me. It's somehow intoxicating.

Rose has now taken to calling me a battle junkie. And as much as I hate to admit it, she's not exactly wrong. I won't tell her that of course.

Thankfully the king has also held up his side of the deal. I turned down the title, I really don't want to have to deal with managing land and all the villages on it. That and politics aren't my thing.

He did end up gifting us some land, just not as much as getting a title would have gotten me. Which I'm completely fine with. We ended up with a two story house that sits on about eight acres of lush and beautiful land.

Thankfully, it wasn't actually that far from where we were previously living so Rose was still able to see her friends every day. Which, unbeknownst to Rose, is what I had requested in place of getting a title.

The king had also kept true to his word about everything else. Not only do I get a pretty big amount every job I take but has guards stationed around our property and sends extra security for Rose when I'm out for a job. I even had another house built so the guards would be more comfortable.

At the moment, I'm actually on one of said jobs. I had been informed yesterday that there was an SS ranked hydra that has been randomly attacking villages recently about two weeks journey from here.

The deaths have been tallied in the hundreds and with it being so close to home I didn't hesitate to take the job. Currently, I'm in the forest not far from the last village that was attacked. According to the few survivors the hydra had ran off towards the nearest mountain.

It wasn't too hard to track either. Due to it's size it left a pretty obvious trail of broken trees and whatnot. I was told it was about a meter tall and only had three heads, which is strange seeing as how the older and stronger a hydra gets the more heads it grows.

The only explanation I can think of, is that instead of naturally evolving and leveling up, it was forcefully evolved. That's what truly worries me. Who or what could have the power to forcefully evolve a hydra?

'One way or another, I'll find out eventually.'

Just as I thought that I came upon a huge cave entrance while following the trail. Since it led directly to it, it was pretty obvious it went in there.

I entered the cave and cautiously walked through on high alert. After having walked for what felt like an hour without seeing anything, I activated my sensory magic and was instantly confused. It wasn't working. Something was interfering with my magic and I wasn't able to sense anything at all.

I kept walking while trying to figure out what was blocking my magic. And just as I went around a bend in the rocks I stopped dead in my tracks.

Directly in front of me was a huge ass hydra. It has obviously noticed me and seeing as how all three heads were looking down at me with pools of drool dripping from their mouths, it was hungry.

          'Well fuck... Here we go...'
