Kirk really marked his words. Walang palya siyang bumisita sa bahay para dalawin ako—not in a romantic way—and it's clear to me that is a friendly visit.

He always was persuaded by Pastora who's currently intriguing my condition.

Mabait naman si Pastora, I have no problems with her. Pero bilang respeto, I let them accompany me.

"What bible verse is this?" Pastora asked the kids from their seats.

"John three sixteen!" they answered in chorus.

"Very good! Palakpakan natin si Lord!"

The children clapped their hands, smiling ear to ear.

"Sige nga, kung alam na alam talaga. I'll call someone to answer what bible chapter and verse ang ipapakita ko." Pastora flipped the other page of the book. "How about this one. .

"Tama, very good! Palakpakan natin si Lord!”

I grimaced as I heard that from her. "Si Julia yung sumagot tapos si Lord papalakpakan?" I whispered to myself.

I heard Kirk laughed next to me saka pinatong ang braso sa balikat ko. "Bakit mukha kang busangot d'yan?

His mom tasked him to do it as a practice.

"Iba naman kami ng strategy ni mommy magturo." he chuckled softly, it tickles my ear, it's sounds like a bell to me. "Or you're saying that I'm that bad at teaching students?"

Napaisip ako saglit at napanguso.

"Oh, you won't like when I get mad, Vanity," he explained, grinning.

An amusement filled all over my face. "Oooh, that's exciting, ano kaya yun?"

"Wag mo nang isipin, baka mawindang ka," he answered, giving me a sly grin.

Umikot lang ang mata ko.

Bigla itong sumeryoso. "May tanong pala ako," he said, not cutting off his stares at me. "May balak ba manligaw sayo si Villanueva? Or he's already courting you?"

I scoffed at that question.

He shot me with a warning stare. "No cussing, nasa sambahan ka."

I wanted to refuse that because I couldn't literally control my mouth from cussing when I get startled.

"I forgot.” umirap ako. “I didn't allow him to court me but he acted like I did," I explained.

I hope that would be enough to convince him.

His stares dropped on the floor that it seemed that explanation contemplated him. Silence fell upon us until Pastora’s voice echoed inside the church calling our names.
