CHAPTER THIRTY-SIX

THIRD PERSON'S POINT OF VIEW

"Ano nang gagawin natin?!" Natatarantang tanong ni Kelly kay Roland. Kasama niya ang binata habang nakatago sa likod ng mga controls. "Hiding here won't protect us from those rabid creatures."

Everything is getting out of hand. A dozen of zombies are approaching them wanting to snatch a piece of their flesh. Minutes of running and struggling seems futile. They are already both bruised and wounded yet it seems like these monsters don't want to give up on them.

"I know, but this doesn't seem to be working anymore. We might need to kill those zombies first if we won't find another exit door," ani Roland na kinakalikot ang mga buton para sinusubukang paganahin muli ang control dashboard.

"Do you hear what you're saying?! Wala tayong laban sa mga iyan. It will be like fighting a losing battle." Pabalik-balik ang tingin sa kasama at sa mga halimaw na papalapit sa kanila.

"I know. Kaya kailangan nating makahanap ng ibang paraan para makalabas dito ng buhay. Lj is waiting for us outside. She needs our help."

Roland peeked on the side to see any possible escape route. They need to hurry. It's only a matter of time before those monsters will get a hold of them again.

Umirap si Kelly. "You're on the brink of dying yet you are still thinking about her," kumento pa nito. "Mamamatay ka na lang yata na hindi sinasabi kung anong nararamdaman mo sa kaniya."

"That's more reason for me not to die." Naalerto si Roland nang may mapansin sa hindi kalayuan. "Listen Kelly. There's a barely open door halfway in the room. If possible, I want you to check it while I distract the zombies."

"Why are you trusting me? I might leave you if that door has another exit."

"I know you won't," walang pag-aalinlangang sagot ng binata.

Pumalatak si Kelly. "Don't regret it if I did."

"On the count of three, we'll do as planned," Roland said, ignoring what Kelly said. "One, two— hey!"

Umalis si Kelly sa pinagtataguan nila nang hindi siya pa siya natatapos magbilang. This caught the zombies' attention. Roland was left with no choice but get out of their hiding place and divert their attention unto him so she could do what she should do.

"Hey! I'm here. Ako ang habulin niyo!" Sigaw niya ng pagkalakas-lakas.

Bumaling sa kaniyang direksyon ang mga zombies na akmang susundan si Kelly. Nagawa man niyang papuntahin sa kaniya ang karamihan sa mga ito ngunit may iba pa ding hindi natinag at patuloy na bumuntot sa dalaga. Hopefully, she will be able to protect herself from those monsters.

Tumakbo si Roland palayo sa direksyon ni Kelly habang nakasunod sa kaniya ang mga zombies. He took advantage of the slippery floor to take down zombies tailing behind him. He run towards the tube's glass to lure the zombies there. Nang makalapit ay bigla siyang lumiko.

The zombies running at full speed was not able to keep up with the sudden movement. They slipped and hit the glass with a great impact, causing for some of them to crush their rotten bodies on it.

Roland repeated what he did again and again until the monster's number depleted, just enough for him to take them down with his own strength.

Kelly, on the other hand, was struggling because she can barely outrun her pursuers. She is not the most athletic person you can ever know. Sometimes it makes her wonder why she was able to survive instead of Alice who was full of life and way stronger than her.
