Mildly hot wind fanned Athanasia's neck, awakening her gently from the slumber. As she blinked away the blurry vision, she turned her head toward the window.
Her eyes adjusted to the sunlight that was trying to breach the misty glass. The gentle heat of the morning dawn slowly thawed the ice away shard by shard.
While enjoying the comfortable silence of the morning, Athanasia's eyes fell on the empty mattress that was a few meters away from hers. The bed was empty, but the blanket and pillows were neatly folded.
Athanasia's eyes scanned the room further, trying to find Jennette, but her cousin was nowhere to be seen.
Yet there was a piece of note tucked underneath her phone. She extended her arm for the note that was slightly out of reach. to reach for it, but somehow, her body wouldn't budge as if half of her limbs were stuck within a boulder of a familiar warmth.
The hot wind blew against her neck once again, but this time, it made her jump slightly because of the sharp inhale mingling with the inaudible mumble that followed.
Turning her head to the other side, her sight was greeted by black locks, sprawling messily on the pillow next to her. Her legs were all tangled up with another person's, using her as a human body pillow.
Realizing who the person was, Athanasia relaxed her tensed muscles and let out a small air through her lips.
The air fanned his black locks slightly as Lucas' face was still hidden somewhere within the crook of her neck.
Athanasia stayed still for a few more minutes, debating between waking him up or trying to sneak away from his grasp as she usually did every morning before getting ready for work.
She chose the second option.
But as she tried to get up, the arm around her waist tightened slightly, pulling her toward him.
A small grumble with annoyance was heard from the guy, but he showed no sign of consciousness. It was not the first time she was held down, so the strength of the grip was distinguishable.
A small smile crept onto Athanasia's face, though she was not oblivious to her own expression. It was an expression of amusement toward her boyfriend's reaction, knowing it was his natural instinct to always keep her close and away from work as much as he could.
Even if it was just five more minutes, he would always hold her down.
Or maybe if she was truly running late for work, then everything had to be resolved with violence.
Just enough for Lucas to let her go.
The longer she stayed still and showed no sign of resistance, the more the sleeping man relaxed his grip, even though it was barely there.
There was just something about waking up, and there was no more hectic schedule awaiting the young heiress anymore.
The feeling was strange for Athanasia. She had gotten used to the chaotic life of someone who was destined to take over the company, to learn and carry everything that her dad had built, and to establish the authority that she must have and dominate the ones who questioned her for the seat of the position as the daughter of the president of the company.
Athanasia was so used to being targeted from every direction that it was odd for her to relax.
Athanasia inhaled the fresh morning air into her lungs and then closed her eyes again. She exhaled her worries with the wind.
