"May this timeline be the one I make amendment for the mistake I made."

After hearing the peculiar promise, Jennette gazed at her beloved in a state of bewilderment.

"What... Do you mean? Was it... Because of... Athy? Back when we were in the university?"

Ezekiel huffed a smile. With a gradual shake of his head, he closed his eyes.

Jennette touched the side of Ezekiel's face. Her touch made him open his eyes.

"Then when was it that you need to keep making it up for me? You know I never hold anything against you right?"

Ezekiel grabbed her hand and squeezed it lightly. "I know," he said in a low voice.

"You haven't answered my question though."

"You do not need the answer, my dear. Just allow me to make amendment. That is all I ever ask."

"But..."

"Sleep," he said, then he leaned forward and kissed her gently on the forehead. "It is getting quite late."

"Don't you want me to eat first?"

"I do. As a matter of fact, you can say the word and I shall bring you either downstair or bring the food to you."

"...But I'm not hungry."

"I am also certain you may say that as well."

"Is there anything that you don't know about me?"

"Only if you wish to keep it from me and telling Icarus instead."

"Is that a sarcasm?"

"Does it feel so?"

"You're jealous of Icarus, aren't you?"

"He does get to listen to you rambling more than I do. So yes, I am jealous."

"That is not true. No one get to hear me ramble and vent more than you."

"I will keep that on the tap. Remind me to get the payment from you one day from all the listening."

Jennette pinched Ezekiel's nose, suffocating him from air. Instead of feeling annoyed, he laughed softly before grabbing her wrist. His thumb caressed the back of her hand.

Ezekiel stared at Jennette. His silver lashes fluttered with every gentle blink as the golden orbs glowed into Jennette's jeweled ones.

"Do you enjoy talking to me, my dear?"

"Eh? What with that question all of a sudden?"

"I just want to know... If I am not... Boring."

"...why?"

"Because... I always talked about books and lessons and—"

"And that's what I love about you," Jennette cut him in. A hue of red crept on her cheeks. "I love listening to you rambling about the books, the lessons, the work. You look happy when you talk about those things."

"But that does not answer my question. Because... Did you not like the... lessons much? You rarely finish the books that I asked you to read."

"The book is boring. You are not," she gave a straight answer along with a light kiss on the tip of his nose. "As I said, when you're talking and teaching, you look very handsome and dreamy. But most importantly, you look happy."

A harsh color red invaded Ezekiel's cheeks, spreading across his face to his ears. Yet he cleared his throat and kept his composure.

"Are you happy when you are with me though?"
