It had been multiple weeks since Meredith came home, two weeks to be exact.

He loved Meredith more than anything but she wasn't making things easy and he could tell she was doing it on purpose in hopes he would get upset and kick her out so she could go home.

She wouldn't eat anything he made her and she didn't want anything from the store or fast food or anything he had to offer.

She kept him up at night, talking about things she didn't care about while he was trying to sleep and when she did let him sleep she would 'accidentally' kick him with her hard cast.

He couldn't give in to her act because she couldn't make it on her own until a few months.

His parents were still in Seattle helping out with the kids. Meredith had practically shut most of the people in her life out, her friends, her boss.. the only person she would talk to was Derek and that was only because she needed his help.

But she also had stopped opening up to her, she would only talk about her injuries but anything else she would change the subject her say she wasn't in the mood the talk and that would be the end of it.

The kids had been adjusting well to Meredith staying there. Madeleine had changed completely since Meredith woke up.

She was nicer and she stopped being so cold when Meredith's name came up.

Michael still didn't seem to show interest or care that Meredith was living in their house.

Violet enjoyed having Meredith staying with them, she didn't really see the fact that Meredith couldn't walk out and get out of bed without help, she was just happy Meredith was living with them.

He had been going to work for the past two weeks but he had taken the next few days off because he came home early one day and saw her in the living room.

he asked her about it and she admitted to walking for the past few days while he was at work and that's why her pain had been getting worse... so now he was taking a few days off to make sure she stayed in bed.

"Can I go to the bathroom?" she asked from her spot bed.

"No, you just went," he sighed sitting next to her on the bed.

"I hate sitting, all I do is sit. Shouldn't I be trying to walk again, getting better?" she said. "No, you don't get better by walking, you get better by resting, you can't walk because your legs are shattered and they can't be shattered if you're going to walk again... you're not allowed to get out of bed without my help until you're legs are one piece again! do you understand that?" he spoke.

"Yeah, fine, whatever," she said quietly and rolled her eyes. "Meredith, I'm serious.. you can't be walking until your legs are one hundred percent better... until then you need to stay in bed. if you walk and something happens while I'm not here it could make things a lot worse than they are, you're lucky the accident didn't paralyze you," he said.

"I don't want to be weak... I didn't do anything for this, this isn't my fault I shouldn't have to be stuck in bed. I like walking!" she groaned.

"I know, I know, I know.. but even though this isn't your fault doesn't mean you can just pretend like it never happened," he said.

"I could if you would go back to work and I could sleep without you staring at me like you're a hawk and I'm a bunny," she said.

"You know... you do kind of look like a bunny," he said as he looked at her face.

"Shut up, I don't look like a bunny," she hit him on the arm.

"You do, and you need to get some rest.. you were up all night and you've been up all day, sweetheart, you need rest," he pulled the covers down so she could lie down.

"I'm not tired though, can't I just do something else, anything else, please Derek?" she begged looking him in the eyes, giving him a look he couldn't say no to.

"Meredith, I wish I could say there was something but there isn't anything you can do right now... you just need to get some rest right now, I'm sorry," he cupped her face in his hand. he pressed his lips against hers.

"You need sleep Mer, I love you. I'll leave you alone so you can rest in peace," he said getting out of bed.

"I'm not dying," she rolled her eyes.

he kissed the side of her head and left the room so she could sleep.
