It was now two weeks ago when Meredith woke up and she was finally able to go home.

She insisted that he take her back to her place rather than his house but he only argued with her.

He told her he wouldn't allow her to spend most of her time alone to take care of herself.

She didn't have the power or the energy to argue with him so she gave in.

Once she had agreed, he went back to her place and collected her things and brought them back to his place.

he explained the situation to his kids and that Meredith was going to need a lot of rest and she was going to need to help her do certain things.

Meredith would much rather be at her place taking care of herself instead of being a burden to Derek and his family.

she already hated that she couldn't get back to her life after being in a coma for three weeks and now she would have to be stuck in bed for the next two weeks while the rest of her body healed.

he pushed her out of the hospital in a wheelchair and helped her into the car.

"Are you sure you're okay with being in a car after what happened?" he asked as they both put on their seatbelts.

"Yeah, I'm fine," she leaned back against the seat.

"the kids aren't home so you can take a nap and get settled in while the kids are away, but the summer is coming up so they'll have two months off of school," he said.

"Are you ready?" he squeezed gently. She nodded and he turned on the car and pulled out of the parking lot.

They arrived at home after a twenty-minute drive from the hospital.

"Are you going to be okay to walk into the house or do you need me to carry out?" He asked. He knew how silly it sounded but he was serious, he had to help her into the car with a wheelchair and he knew her legs were ready to be walking any time soon.

"Derek, I can walk, I've been doing it for twenty-five years," she said as she unbuckled her seat belt and moved to open the door

Before she could get out of the car and try walking which he knew she would fail at he went around the car and lifted her into his arms.

"Derek! What are you doing? I said I could walk!" She said frustrated as he closed the door with his backside and walked to the front door.

"You're overreacting Derek I am fine!" She groaned into his neck.

"You were in a coma for three weeks, you call that fine?" He managed to unlock the front door with one of his hands and pushed open the front door.

"I would if you would believe it," he closed the front door and carried her into the bedroom.

He gently placed her under the covers of his bed. "It smells funny in here, what did you do while I was dying?" She asked.

"Don't say that, and it doesn't smell funny in here, it smells like you," he said as he lay next to her, his legs stretched out and one arm behind his head.

"Are you telling me I smell funny? I come back to life and you insult me?"

"I'm not insulting you. You were gone for three weeks so.. I decided to use your things instead of mine," he leaned his head against her waist. He mesmerized her charts so he knew what parts of her body hurt and which places she felt no pain. Her waist was unharmed, but she did have a large bruise on her left hip.

"Did you steal my tampons too?" She smiled at him teasingly, he rolled his eyes in return

"No, just your shampoo, conditioner, body wash and anything else that smells like you," he felt a little foolish that he needed to smell her in order to fall asleep, he felt like a dog with his favourite bone.

"Do use my perfume, I noticed it when we came into the room but I thought it was just me,"

"I don't use it on myself, maybe just my wrist so I can smell you at work but other than that I just spray it on the pillow of your side of the bed.. it just helps me sleep but now that you're here I won't have to anymore,"

"You have to be careful with that perfume though, it's very strong,"

"The stronger the better.. although the kids were a little confused when they came in here, for a while Michael thought you were coming around and just leaving really early,"

"You didn't tell him I was in a coma?" She asked.

"No, no, I did he just kind of forgot about it.. his mind is very full of... I don't know there's always something going on at school so his brain is always busy,"

"Don't you miss when the only thing you had to worry about was the simple things, the little things that no longer matter? Life was so much easier, other than grades, those were always a pain in the ass,"

"Yeah, I'm just glad I'm the one worrying about the bigger problems and the kids don't feel like they have to worry about those things," he said

"That's what makes you a better parent than my mother, I had to remember what time she had all her surgeries for the next day, I'll never know why though, she still won't tell me,"

"Your mom doesn't know you were in a coma, does she?" He said. He had just realized he hadn't even thought about calling any of Meredith's friends or family, most of Meredith's friends worked at the hospital and he didn't know of any others and he knew she didn't really have any family, other than her mother.

"My mother still thinks I'm five years old in first grade, she wouldn't believe you if you tried telling her,"
