It had been around four weeks since they began trying for a baby.

They weren't sure if it had worked or not since it was still early.

But Derek had noticed she had been moodier than usual and she had been getting sick in the mornings.

He didn't want to say anything since she could have just been menstruating and he didn't want to make her feel guilty for not being pregnant.

His family was going to be coming in from New York, Connecticut, L.A., Chicago and Denver.

Derek was used to being in a house full of people but Meredith wasn't looking forward to it.

She didn't think bad of Derek's family but she knew they would think bad of her, at least most of them would.

Meredith had told Cristina that she and Derek were trying for a baby but other than Cristina they hadn't told anyone else.

She felt sick but she didn't think it was enough to think she was pregnant. There was already something going around and she figured it was just that, even Violet had been sick for a couple of days.

Meredith had offered to help with everything but he denied all of it.

He wanted her to rest in bed instead of helping around the house.

Meredith felt fine apart from the soreness in her lower abdomen. She figured it came from all the throwing up, her muscles became sore.

But the sickness was nothing major. Her face was much paler but she did have a glow to her skin, her entire body was exhausted but she couldn't fall asleep, Especially not with everyone that was going to be arriving.

The older kids enjoyed helping out around the kitchen, Madeline was able to do the most since she was the oldest.

Meredith started to get tired of sitting in bed all day so she decided to go upstairs and check on Violet.

When she got to her room she found her standing over her bed with three dresses laid out in front of her.

"Why aren't you dressed yet?" She asked as she walked further into the room.

"I don't know which one to wear," she said as she stared at her choices.

"Just pick whichever one you like best,"
"You look pretty," she said meeting eyes with her.

"Thank you, sweetheart," she sighed as she sat down on the bed.

"Violet, why aren't you dressed?" His voice came from the door when he realized Meredith was no longer in the bedroom.

"I don't know which one to wear," she shrugged. "Just pick whichever one you like best," he said.

She walked over to him and wrapped her arm around his backside while his arms went around her, kissing the side of her head.

"I know you said I was supposed to stay in there until I felt better but it was getting warm and it began to feel sickening," she said.

"I understand. How are you feeling now?" He asked. "A bit better," she said. She felt better now that her stomach was empty, she wouldn't be sick again if she didn't eat anything.

"Okay, good," he said. He kissed her lips before walking off while Meredith stayed back to help Violet.

Once Violet was dressed she went back downstairs to see if Derek needed help with anything in the kitchen.

As she was about to walk into the kitchen she felt something churn in her stomach and began to taste something bitter.

She rushed to the nearest bathroom but it was no use, her stomach was empty. She was only able to dry heave.

"Hey, are you okay?" Derek asked when he heard the bathroom door slam shut.

"Yeah, I'm fine," she said as she finished with wiping her mouth. She tossed the clean-ex into the trash.

She washed her hands in the sink before walking past Derek as they both went into the kitchen.

"You wanna make yourself busy?" He asked. "Sure," she said.

"I need you to cut the vegetables, Michaels too reckless and Violets too young," he said.

"Where's Madeleine?" She asked as she grabbed one of the knives and began cutting the carrots.

"Pouting in her bedroom upstairs," he said. "Why is she upset?" She said.

"Because I told her that her mother wasn't coming over for Thanksgiving," he said.

"I thought she knew that? Didn't you tell her that her mom wasn't coming back and it was time to move on?" She said.

"I did but apparently she didn't think that included holidays," he said.

"Should you go talk to her?" She asked. "I tried, she just blew up in my face. I think she just needs some time to cool off," he said.

"Okay," she said.
