"...rina! Sarina!"
"Sarina, wake up!"
A certain black-haired female almost fell from her bed as she heard her father yelling and banging on her door.
"Wai—What? What? Is it time for me to cook breakfast?" She asks absent-mindedly before yawning and standing from her bed. She then opened her door to her father who has an annoyed face and a cigarette between his purple-colored lips.
"No need. I'll eat on my way. And answer your phone. It has been ringing a thousand times this early morning. It must be an emergency. Jesus~ You sure sleep a lot." he exclaimed, which she just shrugged off.
"Okay. Okay. I will. Sorry, Pops. At least get some breakfast first." She replied while walking towards the kitchen. Meanwhile, her father went back to his bed which was found on their living area before tying his shoelaces to go to work.
"It's fine, Sarina. It's already 7 o'clock. I'm going to be late." He uttered and put on his bag.
"Oh, that's right. How was your novel going?" the old man in his 50s asks which made the black-haired woman smile and turned on the stove.
"It's going great, Pops. I emailed Sumire-sensei last night. I hope I get a positive reply before I go to the supermarket later. By the way, aren't you hungry?" She straightly said, which made the man shake his head.
"I said it's fine. I'll go drop by at the convenience store to buy some onigiri or something. Anyway, good luck today, Sarina." She smiled wide with the old man's kind words to her.
"Yes, thank you, Pops. You take care today, too." Then, the man left their humble home. She then proceeds to prepare her own breakfast, which is ramen.
But she hadn't even put the noodles in the pot when her phone started ringing again.
"Who is it so early in the morning?" She mutters to herself and walks back to her room to get her cellphone. And that's when she noticed that she received 17 missed calls from a single number...Sumire Arima-sensei. She inwardly cursed herself for not calling her editor as soon as she woke up.
She inwardly panicked before deciding to answer the call.
"Hello. Good morning, Sumire-sen—"
"Where are you? It's already 7 o'clock." The woman on the other line cut her off which made her panic.
"Yes. I emailed you my manuscript at 12:30 last night." She replied frantically and started walking around in her small room.
"No, you didn't." As she heard that, she immediately frowned big.
"Wha—That's impossible, Sensei. I sent it."
"As I have said, I didn't receive anything." She gasped out loud in panic before deciding to open her laptop which...took a bit long to open. Of all days.
