Built in the classical style combined with elements of art nouveau architecture is Opéra National de Lorraine in Nancy, Paris. This is where the Grand Finals of the International Musical Concours will be held in the second week of February, which is the month of love to be held in the City of Love, exactly six days from now.

Gazing at the humungous, extravagant hall is Asami Kimura with a hint of awe and excitement coursing through her veins. Today, they are said to have a general rehearsal of their pieces with their assigned accompaniment. Inside the venue with her are seventeen other competitors from other countries all over the world. All with the same dream as her—which is to compete to become the best amateur musician in the world, pave their way to become professionals and find their spot in stardom.

"Please find your most comfortable seats. The directress will be here shortly." They heard the organizer instruct the participants, so they did as they were told.

There wasn't anyone talking among the contenders. With their instruments in their hands, they were all focused to keep their nerves in as well as their concentration. Yes, they were informed that they are going to have their general rehearsal for the directress of the grand concours to listen to their final performances, who was said to provide feedback and suggestions for them to improve their performance and showcase the best of their utmost abilities. Consequently, they were given the tip to perform their best because the rehearsals are said to be scored and may contribute to the finals itself. All the participants decided to believe that there's nothing wrong with being their best versions. After all, this is a competition. If they want to show off, it has to be now.

It didn't take the awaited person to arrive several minutes after. A woman around her mid to late 50s walked inside the striking hall. Behind her are two more people who seemed high-esteemed in the world of classical music. The three walked toward the stage with intimidating and sophisticated presence.

"Good morning, young musicians." The woman spoke in English to make sure she is understood. But her French accent is still visible. "My name is Antoine de Moreau, the head directress and also one of the board of judges of this year's Grand Finals of the International Musical Concours which will be held come Saturday. We are lucky and honored to welcome you all to our humble city. It has been more than two decades since we hosted the last concours, but we had never been gladder. After all, we get to witness the birth of the best young dreamer in the world of classical music."

Antoine de Moreau. She is known all over the world as one of the best coaches and trainers in classical music; said to produce musical prodigies. Her knowledge and expertise in the field is renowned and respected. Known for her strict and perfectionist personality, green and incoming musicians either fear her, look up to her, or both.

"You're all here because you're all winners already in your respective countries. With that, you should be proud of yourselves. Stand tall, and show us what you've got."

Slowly, the tension in the air started to ease up as the contenders finally smiled. They all thought the woman would be so uptight and serious. Turns out she speaks kindly, too.

"This year marks the 50th Musical Concours ever held. So, we have two special announcements to make that may take all of you by surprise." The contestants start to get serious.

"This year, you shall present two pieces to perform. One is for the Preliminary rounds. And the other is for the Finals. The first piece that you need to present is something that should shoot your ranking to secure your place in the top ten."

"The final ten will battle it out in the Finals and shall be ranked at the end of the competition. Aside from the grand prizes, the first to fifth winners shall be given the opportunity to be trained for two years more here in France under my care, and the chance to hold a concert to be scouted by professional artists."
