Chapter 32 - Would've, Could've, Should've

Maria POV:

"Yelena informed me that they are safe and will get to work on getting Y/N's memories back." Nat says to me as I finish getting checked by a doctor. Y/N throwing me down an elevator shaft only gave me a broken arm thanks to Steve. He was able to stop me from falling hard.

"Ok, well I am glad they safe, for now at least." I say as I see Tony come into the room.

"Do you all want to explain to me what is going on? First Belova, Bishop and Maximoff leave the compound without a trace and then the next they know that Y/N is here and they just show up. Are you two keeping me in the dark?" Tony says annoyed.

"We don't know anything Tony. You know I barely have any control over my sister. Yelena is going to do what she wants. We didn't know anything, they kept us in the dark." Nat says as she glances over to me quickly.

"Yea I find that hard to believe, either way Ross is pissed. . . speak of the devil." We quickly turn and see Ross approaching us with Sharon by his side.

"Agent Hill, I'm glad to see you are doing ok after you were brutally attacked by your sister. I don't suppose any of you have some sort of idea where they are?" I just glare at him.

"We will. GSG-9's got the borders covered. Recon's flying 24/7. They'll get a hit. We'll handle it." Tony responds.

"You don't get it, Stark. It's not yours to handle. It's clear that none of you can be objective. Sharon is still in charge of this operation." Ross says and I glance over at Sharon.

"What happens when the shooting starts? What, do you kill Steve Rogers?"

"Yes, If we're provoked, Maria. Y/N would've been eliminated in Romania if it wasn't for Rogers. There are dead people who would be alive now." Nat quickly grabs my arm as she senses my anger from what Sharon just said.

"All due respect, you're not going to solve this with bullets, Sharon. You gotta let us bring them in." Tony says to ease our tension.

"How would that end any differently from the last time?" Ross says

"Because this time, I won't be wearing loafers and a silk shirt. 72 hours, guaranteed."

"36 hours. Barnes. Rogers. Wilson..." Ross says as he looks at Tony. "Belova, Bishop..." He continues as he now looks at Nat. "Maximoff and Y/N Hill." He finishes as he now is staring at me. "Carter stay with them and help bring them all in." Sharon nods and Ross walks out.

"Sharon what the hell was that? "Y/n would have been eliminated?" Are you kidding me right now?" I say as I start charging at her.

"Whoa whoa Maria, calm down." She looks around and closes the curtain to the room. She takes out a device and clicks it on. "I am sorry, I just had to make Ross believe it. Of course I would never let them touch her. That is why Steve was there. I knew he could protect her. I just didn't know he would also tell everyone else. It's not good that they are here Maria. Y/N I can protect, everyone else I can't promise anything." Sharon explains as Nat is holding me back.

"Wait can you tell me what the hell is going on? You told Steve? So that means you two did know what was going on and didn't tell me. What the hell is everyone doing?" Tony says as he slams his hands on the table by him clearly irritated.

"Cool it Tony. Of course we know what is going on. Just because we signed didn't mean we were going to abandon everyone else. Are you really that surprised?" Nat says as she slowly lets me go.

"This is my sister we are talking about Tony. She will always be my first priority. These accords mean nothing to us. . . I am sorry Sharon."

"Don't worry about it. Tony you know what they would do to people with abilities like Y/N. Ross wants them as pets. He wants to collect them one by one and lock them up. He is no better than Hydra. We can't let Ross do this, but we have to make sure we don't get caught. His first priority is Y/N and Maximoff would be the consolation prize. He will stop at nothing to obtain them." Sharon explains.
