After a few games of cards against humanity and then some games of exploding kittens, Jimmy finally sends us a message to say that we can come over. I spend the whole car journey excited but anxious. I hope he's not done anything too extravagant, I really don't want all the attention on me. When we pull up to the house, I see a bunch of different cards parked up the road and bunting across the outside windows plus some banners on the front door saying "Hello Baby!" and "Baby Shower!". We head up to the door and walk straight in where I'm greeted by everyone in the now decorated living room with smiles on their faces. Jimmy and Maya walk up to me to hug me tightly and show me all of their hard worked on decoration skills. Sam's mum and stepdad sit on the sofa chatting with Tix and Maxwell. Lola is having a conversation with James and some of Jimmy's other work colleagues whilst the rest of our friends also mingle. The kitchen table is covered with a plastic tablecloth and filled with plates and bowls of party food and treats whilst the coffee table holds all of the different drinks options, all non alcoholic thanks to Jimmy making sure that there's no triggers for my addiction recovery. He is so considerate of everything and I appreciate that so much. Over in the corner, there's a big pile of presents, gift bags and boxes with cards carefully sealed in their envelopes stacked on top of some of them. Almost everyone is holding a plastic cup of some kind of drink and I can see that over in another corner, there's some random bags of items which I can tell seem to be games for later. The walls are decorated with bunting and little baby shower themed posters. It looks amazing.

"What do you think?" Jimmy asks, wrapping an arm around my waist. I look up at him and smile.

"It's perfect, you all did amazing," I say, kissing him. "Thank you, and thank you Maya," I give her a smile. She hugs me, making sure to be careful around my stomach. I head over to find a chair and sigh in relief, resting a hand on top of my stomach which has definitely become my norm recently. Summer trots around the room happily, wagging her tail and stopping to get attention and love from whoever will stop their conversation to give her it. Sam's mum and stepdad turn to me and ask how I am.

"I'm good, thank you! This is so lovely, how about you?" I say with a smile. They both nod.

"We're doing alright thanks. The house looks lovely! Jimmy gave us a proper tour earlier and you both seem to have really made it yours over the last few months," Sam's mum, Carol, says as his Stepdad, Marc, nods.

"Thank you! We wanted to make it perfect and get everything ready for the baby," I explain.

"Well it looks great, especially considering you haven't been here too long, it'll be perfect for her once she's here," Marc responds.

"Not long now either!" Carol let's out an excited sound. "We can't wait to meet her,"

"Us too, this pregnancy feels like it's gone way too fast," I admit, looking down at my bump.

"That's always the way! I remember with Sam it felt like one minute I was in my early twenties still acting like a teenager and the next I was holding my baby boy in my arms as a grown woman. Motherhood changes you but it changes you for the better, I'd say," I nod.

"I'm so excited to hold her in my arms. Scared, of course, but excited," I reply honestly. I really am scared but I try not to show it too much. Of course I am excited to be a mother but there's so many worries I have to work through.

"You'll be alright, you've got the instinct in you already, I can see it," Marc ressures me. I nod and thank him before turning around to Jimmy who calls for everyone's attention.

"Hello everyone and welcome to our baby shower! Shall we get started with some games?" He grins mischievously and everyone in the room nods, a few cheers sounding out.
