"Heyyyyy," I groan as my eyes flutter open, hearing Jimmy welcome me.
"This bench is so uncomfortable I swear," I sit up slowly and ease Summer off of my body. She sits on the floor beside Jimmy who is currently eating toast.
"Where'd you get that?" I laugh.
"Canteen,"
"How rude, you ditched me!" We laugh and I put my left hand in his hair, playing with it.
"Grrr," he pushes it away.
"Fineeeeeeee sowwyyyyy. How much of maths have we missed?" He checks his black wristwatch before looking up at me, his icy blue eyes making my heart flutter when they connect with mine.
"Only ten minutes. Shall we head back?" I continue to stare into them.
"Sure," he breaks the force, pulling me up gently and beginning to walk across the quad with me and Summer. My bag is slung over his arm and he swings it about in boredom.
"Can I have her leash out pleaseeeee," he throws it back at me and I clip it to Sum's vest, calling her to heel and clipping the other end to my waistband.
We reach the classroom door and I take my bag back. With a small sigh, I push open the door.
"And that's how to do that. Now, can you finish page 275 questions 5 to 10 please. Thank you!" I slowly walk over to my teacher, Mr McCorrin. He is a pretty chilled out teacher, always making jokes and messing about but making sure to teach us well and keep our grades up.
"Sorry we're late sir. I passed out and Jimmy stayed with me because I felt uncomfortable alone," he nodded and gave us a textbook each, sending us to our seats on the opposite sides of the room. He reaches down as if to pet Summer however I gently pull her away and he steps back. I move my chair, sitting down and opening my textbook. After taking out my math book and tucking Sum below my seat, I pop a piece of gum in my mouth and begin to work however I hadn't even written the date before my phone screen lit up. It was semi-hidden under my pencil case. I slid it onto my lap where I opened the message from Rachael.R- Heyaaaaa wassupppppp wydddddd I'm bored and tired. I should be asleep right now
I reply with a grin.
E- I'm in math. First lesson. Passed out before. Fine now lol. Go to sleep
R- fineeeee ilyyyyy
E- Ilym <3
"Everleigh, phone," I look up to see Mr McCorrin glaring down at me. He was always so nice to everyone except me and Jimmy. We never knew why. I sigh, turning off my phone and handing it over.
"Now work!" I roll my eyes, settling back into my seat and beginning to answer questions. After a long while of writing about the quadratic equation, I finish and the bell rings, freeing us from one hell of a lesson and sending us off to another.
"Evvvvvv," I turn around as Jimmy places a hand on my shoulder.
"Let me go to McCow's desk and get my phone. I'll meet you in between the toilet blocks at lunch, ok?" He nods, leaving me alone in the room with Mr McCorrin.
"Can I have my phone back please, Sir?" He shakes his head.
"Not until the end of the day. Come get it after," I swear under my breath.
"Bye," I ignore him and walk out of the door with Summer beside me. The corridor is pretty much empty other than a group of girls huddled together outside Mr Gray's room. Must be bunking. I begin to walk past when one bends down and strokes Sum.
"Could you not touch her please?
Her vest says pretty clearly not to," I ask quietly, causing all of the 7 girls to turn and stare at me angrily.
"We don't have to listen to you, freak!" The girl who had pet Summer, and by the looks of it, the leader of the girls, flicks her long blonde ponytail behind her ear.
"If you distract her she could miss an alert and cause me to pass out. So don't pet her please!" I speak up, more firmly now.
"Oh shut up!" The girl beside her turned to me, slapping me across the face with a pink manicured hand.
I wince and Summer whimpers as one of them jumps in front of her, scaring her.
"Stop it!" I try to defend myself however another girl shoves me so that I fall over, hitting my head on the brick wall. I land hard on the cold stone floor and Summer instantly places her face on my knee.
"Get her!" The girls all begin attacking me, kicking, scratching, spitting at me as I curl into a ball on the floor. One of them tugs my shirt until it rips, the left sleeve coming off, the then tears it so that the front is ripped halfway down. Summer begins to bark in defence however that turns to a whimper as one of the girls kicks her with a clean white Nike trainer covered foot. My puppy whimpers, stumbling backwards. Another girl hits me around the head with her pink Paul's Boutique bag as my vision begins to fade out. I hear a door open and a distant voice yelling.
"Girls! In my room, now!!!"
