The impact from the throw was hard. The barriers were in place, and the shields were up. I looked back at Louis-he had been thrown far from me and was just now getting up.
A familiar voice called my name. I didn't have much time to respond before thunder crashed with an earth-shattering roar. It was so loud that Azriel had to use his chakra. I pressed myself deeper into him as he let out a deep, warning growl.
The black figure appeared, his form made entirely of smoke. He didn't seem to want anything from us-his focus was elsewhere. His eyes were locked on the barrier.
"Is he going to try to break the barriers?" Azriel asked.
"Don't ask me-I don't know. But if he tries, he won't succeed. It's a ten-shield barrier," I replied, glancing at my hands, as if to reassure myself.
The black dragon spun in the air and slammed into the barrier.
Oh, he's definitely going to try.
Azriel growled again, and I activated my gift. My eyes glowed bright red.
"Crystal rain," I murmured.
Crystals fell like raindrops-sharp as needles-raining down directly over their heads. The shadow man looked up, and black smoke flowed from his hands, forming a shield above them. Then he looked our way, and the smoke surrounding us thickened.
"Fire flame!" Louis shouted, flying in. Waves of fire burst forward, slicing through the smoke but not touching us. He flew beside me now, his expression tense.
"Please tell me you have a plan," Louis said.
Another bolt of thunder struck the center of the barrier. It held strong, but the dragon let out a deep growl.
Y/N's POV
I closed my eyes, feeling Jimin's arms wrapped tightly around my waist. I clutched his shirt in my fists.
"Shh," he whispered gently, pressing his soft lips to my forehead. A warm tingling spread through my body, and I sank further into his embrace.
"You're burning," I whispered.
He didn't respond-just gave a small nod. A soft blue light glowed from my hand. I leaned back and met Jimin's gaze. He was already watching me. The light faded, and I blinked in surprise.
Jimin placed a hand on his forehead. "Did you just heal me?"
"I don't know-it just happened. Are you feeling okay now?"
"Yes," he replied.
Suddenly, a sound rang out, followed by a blinding flash of light. I shut my eyes tightly. For a moment, it felt like the whole world had stopped. Heavy footsteps approached and stopped right in front of us. Jimin immediately stepped in front of me, shielding me from view.
"Stop," he ordered.
"Prince, we need to get you to safety," one of the guards said.
"What's going on? What was that sound?" Jimin asked, staring straight into the guard's eyes.
The guards were tall and muscular, built for combat, but there was something about Jimin that made them visibly nervous.
"There's a battle underway, my prince. We've been ordered by the King to escort you to the safe zone," the guard replied.
Jimin simply nodded and stood, pulling me to my feet with him. I barely had time to steady myself before he began pulling me along, his hand tightly holding mine. The guards surrounded us, forming a protective circle.
I glanced around curiously, but Jimin didn't seem to notice or care. He kept moving.
We arrived in front of an enormous door-so tall I had to tilt my head all the way back just to see the top. Several warriors stood guard, armed and prepared for anything.
Something tugged at my attention. I turned back toward the balcony and spotted Olive, the dragon, watching me. A smile spread across my face. I took a step toward her, but Jimin pulled me back, frowning.
The door opened, and we stepped inside. It closed behind us with a heavy thud.
A woman stood in front of us, watching. She wore an elegant green gown that hugged her body perfectly. Her blonde hair was styled neatly in a bun, and her hands were covered in heavy jewelry. Every finger sparkled with rings. The way she looked at me made my stomach twist with unease.
She stepped closer, and I finally recognized her.
Lady Kasumi-the former queen.
I hadn't gotten a good look at her the last time she visited, because of my injured leg. But now I could stand. The cast was gone. I could walk freely. I healed incredibly fast, and I was thrilled not to be burdened by that heavy cast anymore. Jungkook hadn't liked it-he'd preferred carrying me everywhere. But once I kissed him on the cheek, he was fine.
I blinked, snapping out of my thoughts.
"Who are you?" Lady Kasumi asked.
Jimin tightened his hold on me.
"Y/N," I replied softly.
"She is my daughter."
I turned to see my mother and Aunt Ella entering. My mother had her arms wrapped protectively around Aunt Ella's shoulders.
Another loud sound shook the ground beneath us.
Aunt Ella screamed and clutched her chest, falling to her knees.
"What happened?" I heard my mother cry, dropping to her side and gently shaking her.
"Ella, tell me-what's wrong?"
Aunt Ella's voice was barely more than a whisper.
"Harry," she said.
