The grand halls of the North Christyl Kingdom were unusually quiet that evening, the usual hum of castle life replaced by an air of tension. Harry and Louis stood at the center of the room, their eyes fixed on the maps spread across the long table. Discussions of defence strategies filled the space as the sun dipped lower, casting long shadows through the high-arched windows.Without warning, a soft shimmer rippled across the sky outside, catching the light just as the guards shifted uneasily. The faintest hum, almost imperceptible, echoed through the halls. In an instant, a small figure appeared, darting with grace and precision over the castle walls, its wings leaving a delicate trail of glittering light behind.
"Intruder!" a guard shouted, drawing his blade in alarm as the creature zipped past him.The entire courtyard erupted into action, the bells clanging loudly in response to the perceived threat. Soldiers flooded the halls, armed and ready, yet the creature evaded their every attempt to capture it, moving effortlessly through the air with a poise that almost seemed... deliberate.
"What's happening?" Louis demanded, standing up as the doors burst open and a guard rushed inside.
"My Lords! A strange, winged creature-it's entered the castle, and none of us can catch it!" The guard's voice was edged with panic.
Harry raised a brow but remained calm. He glanced at Azriel, the dragon perched quietly on one side of the room who seemed completely unbothered by the commotion. Louis, first to action, had already placed a hand on his sword, ready to face whatever had breached their defenses."Where is it now?" Louis asked."Inside the main halls, my lord," the guard replied. "It's... unlike anything we've ever seen. It moves too fast, like it's toying with us."
Harry glanced at Azriel, who remained perfectly still on his . Strangely, the dragons did not react. Not a growl or a shift of agitation came from them, even as the entire castle seemed ready for battle. Just as Harry was about to step forward, a small figure appeared at the grand doorway. It hovered for a moment before landing with an unimpressed grunt on the floor. A goblin-like creature, no taller than a foot, dusted itself off with exaggerated annoyance. Its soft green skin shimmered slightly, though the wrinkles on its face betrayed its age. Long, pointed ears twitched as it adjusted its tiny vest.
"Well, if this isn't the most ridiculous display of overreaction I've seen in centuries," the creature muttered, glaring at the guards with narrowed, beady eyes.
The guards, still poised to attack, exchanged confused glances. Louis took a step forward, hand on the hilt of his sword. "Who are you?"
"Who am I?" the creature snapped back with a huff. "Who am I? I'm Virelan, you simpletons. The messenger for the dragons. Or do I need to spell it out for you?"
