The next day felt different from the usual routine. A buzzing energy seemed to ripple through the halls of Draconyas Academy, and Y/N could feel it in the air as she and Tori got ready for the day. The sound of excited chatter grew louder as they made their way outside, where they saw the arena filling up with students.
Tori's eyes lit up as she glanced at the growing crowd, gripping Y/N's hand tightly. "Let's go! Hurry!"
Y/N hesitated, pulling back slightly. "Are you sure? I told you-I don't like games, Tori. Can't we just go to the library? Something about today feels... off."
Tori turned to her, determination gleaming in her eyes. "Yeah, I'm sure! You'll like this one, I promise. It's not just any game-it's Dragonstrk Trials. All the top-tier players are competing today. I don't want to go alone!"
Y/N sighed, reluctant but unwilling to disappoint Tori. She glanced toward the arena, its towering spires casting long shadows over the growing crowd. Even from this distance, the roar of excitement was deafening.
"Fine," Y/N muttered, letting herself be dragged along. "But if I hate it, you owe me a quiet day in the library tomorrow."
Tori grinned triumphantly, pulling Y/N into the stream of students heading for the stands. "Deal. But trust me-you're not going to hate it."
As they approached the arena, Y/N's unease deepened. She couldn't place why, but the charged atmosphere seemed almost... foreboding. She tightened her grip on Tori's hand, bracing herself for whatever was to come.
As Tori and Y/N made their way into the arena, Tori's eyes scanned the stands eagerly. Most of the seats were already taken, with students packed shoulder to shoulder, their excited chatter filling the air. Her gaze settled on the front row, where a few prime seats remained empty. A mischievous grin spread across her face.
Without warning, Tori's green eyes sparkled with determination, and she tightened her grip on Y/N's hand. "Hold on!"
Before Y/N could protest, Tori summoned a gust of wind magic, lifting them both off the ground and into the air. "Tori! What are you doing?!" Y/N hissed, glancing nervously at the crowd below.
"Relax, it's fine! You'll thank me in a second," Tori replied, laughing as they glided effortlessly over the heads of the heavy crowd near the back.
With precision, Tori landed them in the front row, the perfect vantage point to see the arena. "Ta-da!" she declared, plopping down into a seat and motioning for Y/N to sit beside her.
Y/N glared at her, crossing her arms. "You can't just-"
Tori cut her off with a laugh, brushing off her annoyance. "Don't be so grumpy! Look, I saved the best seats for us. No one's going to complain." She gestured toward the arena with a wide smile. "This is where the action is. Trust me, you'll love it."
Y/N sighed, reluctantly taking her seat. Her nerves still prickled with unease, but she couldn't deny that the view was incredible. From here, they could see the entire field, the towering Dragon Beacons glowing with power and the players' dragons circling above in preparation.
"Fine," Y/N muttered. "But next time, you're explaining to everyone why we skipped the line."
Tori grinned, leaning back in her seat as the crowd around them erupted into cheers. "Deal."
All around the arena, the professors and staff were bustling with activity, ensuring everything was in place for the much-anticipated Dragonstrike Trials. The arena shimmered with magic, and the excitement in the air grew more intense with every passing moment.
As the clock ticked closer to the start, the cheers from the students grew louder, an almost deafening roar of anticipation. Tori joined in, her voice blending with the crowd, waving her arms enthusiastically as she cheered for her favorite players.
