Third person POV

The hanahaki diseases is where the victim of unrequited or the sided love begins to vomit or cough up petals and flowers of a flowery plant growing inside their lungs. Which will eventually grow large enough to render breathing impossible if left, it ended with the beloved turning their feelings or when the victim dies.

It can be cured through surgical removal but when removed, the victims romance feelings for the lover also disappear. Atsushi didn't really believe a disease existed like that but he believes it, when he got it.

"Flowers..?" Atsushi said in confusion as he coughed up more, atsushi finally remembered reading about the disease from the orphanage books. Atsushi look horrified and wasn't sure ob what to do. Atsushi thought about it and decided to not tell anyone.

Atsushi was good at hiding it but he couldn't hide it from akutagawa. "hanahaki disease.." Akutagawa said in shocked as atsushi coughs up more flowers and petals. "I found out about two weeks ago..and I don't plan on getting surgery.." Atsushi said and akutagawa actually felt sorry for atsushi.

"..I won't say anything.." Akutagawa said and atsushi was happy to hear that. "Let me help you.." Akutagawa said as he tries his best to make atsushi comfortable. Atsushi knew it would only get worse by time, but atsushi still acting like nothing was wrong.

"Atsushi~ are you feeling alright? Your little pale.." Dazai ask and atsushi just smiled, "I'm okay..just a little tired that all.." Atsushi said and dazai believe it and didn't say anything else. Akutagawa walk into the agency because of a mission, and ever since akutagawa found out, he been softer with atsushi. "Come on..jinko." Akutagawa said as atsushi get up and go with him.

"No one has noticed yet.." Atsushi said with a sad smile, akutagawa just nodded. "Who the person?" Akutagawa asked and atsushi didn't answer for a minute. "Tanizaki.." Atsushi finally said and akutagawa already understood it. "..I see..I'm so sorry.." Akutagawa said, he didn't really know why he was apologizing but he was. "no need to apologize." Atsushi said with a smile as they do the mission.

After a while, the agency member noticed something was wrong with atsushi but obviously they never got answer from him. Kyouka was worried the most though and atsushi still wouldn't say anything, and akutagawa couldn't convince him to say anything. "...it already been..two months..jinko..you can't keep hiding this.." Akutagawa said, he was actually very worried now. "No.." Atsushi manages to say I see coughed up more flowers. "tiger lilies..kinda fitting isn't it?" Atsushi said and akutagawa just nodded.

Soon the port mafia noticed it too, and noticed akutagawa was worried all the time. "..ryuu..what wrong?" Gin ask and her brother didn't say anything, he promised he wouldn't say anything. "Nothing wrong.." Akutagawa finally said and gin obviously didn't believe it but she didn't push for answers.

"Atsushi..are you sure you're okay?" Kyouka ask and atsushi just smiled and nodded. "I just haven't been sleeping good recently..that all." Atsushi said and technically that was true but it wasn't the whole true and kyouka knew it. Ranpo didn't use his ability because atsushi say he was fine and ranpo didn't want to make atsushi, But soon everyone was going to find out.

The agency and port mafia were having a meeting, and it been a hour and atsushi is trying to hold in the coughing but it was quite hard obviously and before atsushi knew he was coughing up the flower petals. Akutagawa ran to help him and everyone was just shocked and then the agency was horrified.

"hanahaki disease.." Ranpo said and atsushi couldn't speak from all the coughing. Akutagawa didn't say anything at all and everyone was just so shocked, "I found out about..three months..ago.." Atsushi manages to say and kyouka want to cry. "And I'm not getting the surgery.." Atsushi said as he finally sit up and can relax.

"That why..akutagawa has been worried..he knew about it.." Chuuya said and akutagawa nodded, which confirmed it was true. "Atsushi.." Kyouka said as she hugged him and finally she started to cry. "Shh.. it's going to be okay..I will always be with you..even if I'm dead.." Atsushi whispers to kyouka and akutagawa didn't say anything at all.

"Who the person though?" Yosano ask and atsushi just smiled. "Akutagawa will tell you all...when I'm dead.." Atsushi said with a smirk and kyouka was still hugging him and Kenji join the hug as well. "I don't know what to say.." Dazai said and everyone agreed with him.

After everyone found out, they were a lot softer with atsushi and the hanahaki disease just kept getting worse for atsushi. Atsushi just kept coughing up more flower petals, but at least the agency was helping him now. "Fuck.." Akutagawa said as atsushi cough up a few more and then suddenly atsushi fell to the ground.

Jinko!" Akutagawa yell as he holds atsushi, "c-can..you make sure kyouka will be okay..? She's going to be very upset.." Atsushi manages to say and akutagawa nodded, and suddenly atsushi just smiled and closed his eyes. "Goodbye..atsushi." Akutagawa said with a smile, "it was nice fighting with you.." Akutagawa said as he picked up atsushi and walked to the agency building.

The agency member didn't expect to see akutagawa but then they noticed atsushi body. "He gone.." Akutagawa said with a small smile, everyone looked upset to hear that and kyouka started to cry. "..tanizaki..was the person atsushi love.." Akutagawa said and tanizaki look shocked. "m-me!?" Tanizaki yell and tanizaki started to realize.

Atsushi always had a hard time confessing things so he made small hints and tanizaki never realized it until now but tanizaki didn't like atsushi. Tanizaki was in love with tachihara and tanizaki look guilty. "This wasn't your fault.." Yosnao said, and everyone just stands there in silence.

Everyone was at the funeral and it was peaceful. Tiger lilies were all around the coffin and slowly atsushi was buried into the ground. No one forgot about atsushi and the agency member were never the same after that and akutagawa always checked up on kyouka because atsushi told him too.
