Angst- (patches dies I'm sorry 😭)

Losing a pet.

It's like losing a family member.

Imagine if you had a cat. A cat that was with you when no one else was, a cat that sat with you when you were crying in the bathroom because you were all alone.

Well, that's what happened to Dream- this morning. His cat patches had been sick all week and Dream had tried everything to make Patches well again. He had paid thousands for surgeries and medication just to save his cat, as she was only young.

Nothing worked.

When Dream got the call saying that his beloved cat. His beloved patches had died this morning he broke down where he stood. George tried to comfort him as best he could but knew the bond between the two.

1,758 days since Dream adopted Patches. Three hours since he had been given the news about his cat's death.

Dreams whole world had fallen apart. He loved his cat. He loved his cat with everything he had. That cat had gotten him through everything.

And now she was gone..

Gone and never coming home.

Never again would Dream feel Patches' soft fur against his face when he woke up.

Never again would be feel the cats' coarse tongue run against his skin. Usually he would have hated it against his skin, but now he just- he'd do anything to have his cat back..

I felt so bad for Dream, a couple of weeks ago (just under a month) his cat Patches had died. I didn't know what I could have done to help. But I had seen that Dream was looking online at newts, in particular; a Crested Newt.

I had done my research and the Crested Newt is the easiest newt to keep because it is a sturdy, robust fellow and is fairly easy to maintain. With eating; The Crested Newt is easy to please because their tastes are broad. The does prefer live foods, so earthworms, freshwater shrimp, bloodworms, daphnia and whiteworms.

I had bought everything recently, like a day or two before Christmas so that the newt was safe.  George had pulled Dream out of bed instantly, pulling him downstairs to show his boyfriend his gift.

"Bub.. what's going on? It's so early.."

Dream spoke through yawns, and rubbed his eyes softly. I smiled broadly and shoved a box into Dreams face (carefully but excitedly.)

(I had a vivid image of a toddler like shoving a bottle cap into my face and going: 'do you like mah bottle cap? It's been up mah nose.'
That's all I wanted to say- bye.)

"George?"

"Open it.."

Dream nodded and sat down, placing the gift into his lap and slowly unwrapping it. Underneath the wrapping paper was a small brown box with a small toy for the newt inside of it.

"George what's this?"

"It's a toy for a newt.. like what you wanted."

"Oh- George! Thank you- wait- you got me a newt?!"

I nodded slowly and grabbed a box with air holes poked into the top, giving it to Dream. I watched as he opened the box and pulled out the newt, awing at the sight.

"George! Look at- uh..?"

"It's a him. What you gonna name him?"

"Uh- I'm gonna name him... COMET!"

"Comet?"

I laughed and rubbed his arm softly, allowing him to rest his head onto my shoulder.

"Yeah.. I like it."

"I'm glad baby. I thought it'd make you feel better."

"It did. Thank you so so so much!"

"You're so welcome baby. I love you so so much."

Btw the number thing was how many days since 14th Feb 2019 (Patches birthday and the year that Dream adopted patches irl)
