Oral fixation: an oral condition involving a person who has an unconscious obsession with their mouth.
Linked to ADHD: People with ADHD often feel a strong compulsion or urge towards oral chewing or stimulation, such as biting the inside of your cheeks or biting your finger nails

Ever since Dream was able to, he had always had something in his mouth. His parents would try to pry the things away from him, and he just wouldn't listen. And when he was diagnosed with ADHD, his parents brought up the oral habits that their son had. The doctors told them that their son was dealing with an oral fixation, which was very common with people who have ADHD.
Now they support their son, and when there is a family event they always bring gum or something so that he would ruin any of his clothes or his finger nails. All of his friends know as well. Well- all but George.
George didn't know, but was bound to find out eventually as he was moving in with Dream And Sapnap. He was unaware that every time he called Dream; he would be chewing on a hoodie string, hoodie sleeve, gum, a lollipop pt other various items he found around his room.
Dream wasn't exactly nervous about telling George that he had an oral fixation, but he wasn't completely fine with it either. Now all he had to do was wait.
He just had to wait..

"Ok Dream, I'm going to go get George. His plane lands soon. Are you sure you don't want to come?"
"I'm sure Sap."
Sapnap nodded, walking out of the door with his keys in his hand. I walked into my room, going to sit at my desk. I brought my hoodie sleeve up to my mouth and began to chew it, after pulling out my phone and scrolling on tiktok.
I got bored sitting at my desk, so i got up and began to walk around my house. I moved to my couch and sat down, petting my cat Patches as she came and sat in my lap. It was actually really boring without anyone being here, especially since i knew why the house was empty. I began to chew on my hoodie draw string instead of my hoodie sleeve, since I was petting Patches and holding my phone at the same time.

I put my phone down and reached into my pocket, pulling out a packet of gum. I took my hoodie draw string out of my mouth and replaced it with gum. I placed the packet of gum back into my pocket and picked Patches up, nuzzling my nose into hers.
"Patchesss.. are you excited to meet George?"
"Mreow!"
I smiled, placing Patches back onto my lap and laughed softly as she placed her soft paws on my chest. I scratched in between her ears as I looked over at the door, waiting for George and Sapnap patiently.

Since moving in with Dream and Sapnap, I had noticed that Dream is very prone to chewing on things. He chewed on gum, hoodie draw strings, hoodie sleeves (or any long sleeved items of clothing) and his finger nails. Well, he didn't chew on his finger nails that much. Mainly because he would get told by Sapnap to stop.
Currently, I was sitting on the couch with Dream, Patches was sitting in my lap. As usual he was chewing on the draw string of his hoodie. I was wondering if I could ask Dream why he was so.. obsessed (?) with chewing things? I had taken a look online, to see if I could find anything before asking Dream about it.
When I searched up 'why would someone be obsessed with having something in their mouth' what came up kind of what Dream was doing. Appartently it's called an oral fixation.
"Ge'rge? Are you ok?"
"Oh- Yeah i'm fine babe. I had a question actually?"
"Yeah? What's up?"
"i uh.. I think you have an oral fixation..?"
"Oh- Yeah i do. I was going to tell you but couldn't figure out how.. I've had it since i was like 5- I basically just chew on things, like gum and stuff? Sorry if it doesn't make sense."
"Oh. Well if you need anything to chew on just ask me ok? I just to make sure that you're not ruining any of your clothes or something."
"Thanks.. Love you.."
"Love you too."
I smiled, thankful that we could at least slightly talk about Dreams fixation. I moved my hand and interlocked our fingers, squeezing his hand tightly.
We continued to watch the film, becoming quite bored of it quickly. I felt Dream place his head in my shoulder, and unconsciously began to bite at my finger nails. It didn't bother me, but instead it made me smile none the less.
